Thanks for the input, GUB and Auzzie-Phoenix. I've decided to do a sort of staged de-yellowing. At the moment the lens is so yellowed that I get almost a brown colour cast that needs heavy correction in post-processing. So I've put it under a full spectrum LED in the hope of bringing it down to a more subtle level of yellowness. Hopefully I'll be able to keep some yellowness when it adds a pleasant warmth to shots, but get rid of it completely in post-processing when I want a neutral colour rendering.

And I guess if I decide that I want the yellowing back then it's just a matter of waiting another 40 years.

So how's that going for you dave? Mine took quite some time to get as clear as it is under my non- full spectrum LED lamp (the fluorescent black light had no effect on it either). Can't wait to see some of the pics you take with it once you've de-yellowed it to a comfy level for your tastes.

Unrelated:

I'm honestly surprised we don't get more people from the takumar club in here... or from the other clubs for that matter. There's tons of hot glass in circulation.

Took some shots with the Super Tak 50mm f/1.4 tonight.

Orion as seen by my K-50 with the 50mm f/1.4 Super Takumar @ f/1.4 8s exposure, ISO 400, infinity focus.

Moonlit lake 50mm Super Tak f/1.4. A bit fuzzy due to the haze, lake is still humid at night due to recent warm weather.

Hoping everyone had a good holiday and new year's. Did anyone use their radioactive glass to shoot any holiday memories?

I used my SMC Takumar 50mm 1.4 to shoot family snapshots over Christmas, but as a personal rule I don't post photos of the kids on public forums.

The 50mm is now fully de-yellowed and working wonderfully well. Here are a couple of shots previously posted in the Takumar Club.

Took this on 31st December with a CZJ 50/1.8 Pancolar, radioactive version - de-yellowed in pp. Seemed to be a suitably wilting end of year flower.

Ahh yeah... I remember seeing those pics in the tak club. I can also fully understand not wanting to post pics of family members in publicly viewed venues as well. Glad to see that people were out enjoying the holiday at least.

Welcome to the club. Definitely an interesting perspective angle from the cat's side in that photo.

Pentax K-5 with Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 @ 1.4, 1/750s, ISO 800. EXIF at Flickr is incorrect because stupid me forgot to change the input value to shake-reduction.

I could not think of a more fitting lens with which to photograph this somewhat oddly-titled beauty product. "Radiating skin", indeed.

Super Takumar 50mm f/1.4 doing the honours on my K-5; ISO 80, f/16, 1/180 sec; onboard flash.

Thank you!

Which other lenses are confirmed to be hot? Would the Prakticar (=Pancolar) 50 mm f1.4 qualify for this club?

Also, as I wrote in another thread it appears that all my radioactive gear is very good, do you guys think there is a "radioactive" look?
