Radioactive Lens Club- We proudly glow in the dark.

I had wanted to start this in lens clubs forum, but didn't get any word back from the mod contact form. So I'm making the thread anyway over in slr discussion and it can eventually get moved to lens clubs. The radioactive lens club says it all, post pictures from your "known to use radioactive elements" lenses. After all... we need some sort of excuse to carry around little metal cases with radiation symbols on them when we shoot.

A bit of macro fun with the radioactive 7-element super takumar 50mm f/1.4

It does! I own one, but haven't taken any pictures lately to post up. I do know that there are dozens of REE (rare earth element) lenses floating around from the same era. I don't have a list of them otherwise I'd link to it.

Here's a list of the radioactive Takumars: Radioactive Pentax Takumar lenses.

The lenses listed as "hot" are:
20mm/4.5
35mm/2.0
50mm/1.4
55mm/1.8
55mm/2.0 (serial numbers beginning with 2)

I didn't realise my 20mm/4.5 is one of the radioactive Taks, so I've learnt something from this thread already.

Nice objective link. So the yellowing is in the glass and is not the balsam cement.
And yellowed lens are probably radioactive but that doesn't necessarily mean clear lenses aren't. Especially considering this link. Radioactive lenses
I have 2 yellowed lenses -- a sup tak 50 1.4 and a fujinon non ebc 50 1.4 (m42).
I prefer them over the various other 1.4s I have but I suspect it is just a gut reaction from the warmer colours.

I don't appeared to have xrayed this little chap.

That watch is astoundingly sharp, redcat. I've still not gotten a chance to use my 50mm again yet. Nothing of interest inside the house to take pictures of and outside weather has been horrible as of late.

Surely there must be more people handling their lenses with lead lined radiation suits..... Just to be clear, the club is for ANY lens using radioactive rare earth coated elements. Any manufacturer... if it glows it goes.

Just went out and shot this with the super takumar 50mm f/1.4 7-element. Ran it through silkypix. Sorry, I suck at macro, hence the blurry areas in center.
