I played a little bit around with my K 50/1.2 in this situation and found the bokeh to be smoother and more pleasing at f/2.8 than at f/1.2

that's a nice shot. I wonder how'd it look like at f/1.2

Yes, I expect you'd have a rather "busy" bokeh with this scene -- lots of high-contrast textures. It's so tempting to always shoot wide open with that lens, but it is an outstanding performer stopped down also.

I was out with the K105 this morning. This lens seems to have fallen out of fashion; I don't know why.

You're right, baro-nite. f/1.2 is great, but this lens has a lot more to offer. Stopped down it's amazingly sharp.

Much better at f/2.8, not just the bokeh but the dof works better too. Very nice. I have the K50/1.2 and rarely use it at 1.2.

Cheers, K.

Just joined the K club today after buying a 55mm f/1.8. Feels good, focus ring is smooth as silk. Of course I am still getting used to it, its only been in my possession for a couple of hours but so far so good (well, of the 20 I shot, I dumped all but 3).

Didnt know if I liked the colour or black and white of this random child playing down by the beach.

B&W gives the shadows more weight, and also makes the texture of the wall more interesting. It becomes a story rather than a color composition.

Thanks, guys... I'm pretty keen on this lens. I wont pretend those shots were sooc, but they didnt need much in the way of editing, just a bit of sharpen and brightening those colours because it was nearly dusk and so the colours were somewhat muted.

My K24 is kind of a forgotten lens even though I carry it almost everywhere. The DA15 rarely comes off of the camera. The K35 just collects dust sadly. I seem to usually be in the mood for wide (DA15) and macro (DFA100WR). The DA40 and A50f1.7 satisfy the mid lengths pretty well. This weekend the K35 will at least be making the trip and I'll force myself to use it at some point.

Here's a couple with the K24 from last weekend.

Well done.

I too have the K 24/2.8 and like yourself seldom use it. Viewing your efforts makes me wonder why. I think it's time to put it back in the rotation again.
