Thanks Jay. It would have been a lot more fun if it werenít so cold. Just a little context on that last image. The girl had just made a good defensive play and deflected the ball. It was a near miss as it flew by her head. No harm done in case you were concerned.

If I may a little sidebar on the shoot today. The local paper had a photographer at the game. He was a nice kid and he was shooting Canon of course. He had one of the Canon L series 300 2.8s on a Canon body I canít recall the name of. It was an impressive outfit and as I was curious I asked about the price. He indicated the paper had paid about $5,000 for the lens. He was quite proud the lens had built in image stabilization. Of course we had to compare gear as all photographers do. I was impressed with his rig but he knew little or nothing of Pentax equipment. He was quite impressed by the fact my K10 had stabilization built into the camera. He was even more impressed by the fact I could use such an ďancientĒ lens on it. So am I! Iíd be curious to compare my images with his and see if I could detect $4,500 difference in the shots. There will probably be some in the paper tomorrow and we shall see.

I hope nobody minds me resurrecting this thread, but these classic older lenses should never be forgotten.

An early test shot from my K 55mm f1.8 (which is considerably older than I am!) on my new k20:

This is a very nice shot, Tom.

It's just pleasing to look at.

Thanks Mike.

I sort of liked that one when I took it. Nothing special just some stuff growing in the ditch but it grabbed my attention. Glad you liked it.

A K35 Jay. Is that a new one for you? Good stuff. As it gets cooler here in Canada it's nice to have a reminder of warmer days.

touchmyici and Fearview that K 50 1.2 does have a "special" look to it.

Is it me or does K series glass have its own look say compared to M series? Not better or worse but just different.

SMC K 200mm 2.5

Tried the old 200 in the auditorium murk at son Jimmy's guitar recital. Love this lens for this type of work.

From my new K 35 1:2 from KEH. Scans from Fuji Superia 200 and Ilford Delta 400.

Testing close focus, probably wide open at f/2

Sharp as can be at 1/30th and f/4. Flickr needs to offer a better 'medium' size, as the grain's pretty noticeable @ 1280 pix. (Sorry about the cliche shot)

I really dig this lens, bokeh's pretty smooth so far, build quality's fantastic (probably the biggest k-mount 35), and f/2 gives me a bit of breathing room to stop it down for better sharpness, though it's more than adequate at 2.8. My new standard :P

K 55mm f/2

Picked up a K 55 f/2 & SMC Tak 55 f/2 on craigslist last night.

The K has a dented filter ring, but everything ele about it is great.

The usual mid-winter IQ-test targets:

wide-open

SMC K 200mm f2.5

Wow! There are some great shots above. Not a lot of action in the old K Club of late. Must be the wretched weather in the Northern hemisphere. I was playing around with my K10 after supper and discovered I don’t need the green button if I shoot wide open in AV mode. Who knew? Well maybe people who read through their owner’s manual. In any case I slapped the old K 200/2.5 on the cam and tried some shots in the available light. After pondering over the fact I really have to get a life here are a few hand held shots from the K10 – K 200/2.5 combo. All images ISO 400 @ f 2.5 in AE mode. No post processing.

The Old Cookie Jar

And some condiments

I should compare my M 200mm f/4 with this lens under the same conditions at some point. On second thought I've got to get a life.
