Do you still like the 30mm now that you're using it more now, I love mine it has a unique rendering. Would you do a review? Thanks great pano btw
I'm shooting with it all month....so will do a review at the end. I plan on doing some back to back shots with it and my FA31 as well as the opportunity arises (not scientific stuff....)... the weather has been a bit grey and overcast most of this week...... so still early days.

Personally, I like the 28-31 range ...... suits Apsc and will be great as a wider lens on FF..... really can't go wrong.

I've had both lenses for about a year but I haven't spent enough time with the K30 on the front of a camera.*

K30/2.8 shot to compare with FA31(see below)....both at F11, 1/250/ iso 100, K3 plus tripod...focus is 1st post on walkway. Same processing to each. I won't be doing a detailed comparison.....more just how I might use the lenses.

Personally, both are fine....differences I'm expecting would at wider apertures and when sun's not behind as it was here. I did some wider aperture comparisons but will redo them another time due to wildly fluctuating exposures between lenses (cloud).

There is not much difference between the two. The 31mm is only a stop faster and is bigger than the 30mm really like these comparisons as I don't have the 31mm to do this. Luckily I don't mind using manual lenses thanks for the comparisons

A 28/2 and 31 would be interesting.....I'm only doing the 30/2.8 v's 31 to get a picture in my head what I'll be giving up when I only have the 30 with me (as part of my 3 prime manual kit). I suspect it will be more abrupt on the focus transition (you can see this with the book photo), more flare prone and obviously you don't have 1.8! The slight loss in contrast is pp'able.....so the bokeh on the 30 will be the main issue I think (a 31 strength).

I chose to buy the 30/2.8 over the 28/2 mostly because of size....as i really wanted a 30/50/85 smallish K kit and the 50/1.2 and 85/1.8 are already bulky and heavy....I had a certain bag in mind for them as well.....and I reckon (given my usage) the 30 won't be used as much once the FF is here.....(based on my current APSC use of my 31 and 21)..... the 50 and 85 are bokeh kings (queens?) anyway.

Great setup I have a similar setup with the 30mm, 55 f1.8 & 85mm and these three are all I feel that is needed. There is room for wider and longer but then its a case of carrying too many lenses and choosing between them can become aggravating. I just enjoy photographing and having a small lens setup makes it easier to choose one for a particular scenerio. Have had real cravings for the 135mm f2.5 but seems to have disappeared off ebay and it is one of the bigger lenses which will add more weight to the bag. The 135mm focal length is niggling me at the moment and would love to try one just to see if I like it. Thanks Noel

Part of the problem I anticipate going FF will be a heightened desire for a 135..... but I'll resist purely because it will get to much to have with me!

It is a big lens but like you say with FF around the corner maybe become more tempting and this also maybe why they have become so difficult to find on the used market as well. A lot of the legacy K-mount lenses have become quite rare due to this I think in anticipation of FF

Looking the green, blue and yellow balls, IMO, the bokeh is nicer with the K30 ... and the colors as well ...

Pentax Leebo, Adorama has a nice price on a K135/2.5 right now:
Pentax SMC 135mm f/2.5 Manual Focus Lens for Pentax K Mount
It should fit right in with those other great K-series lenses in your bag--it can be a bit of a beast, but there's usually one shot with it in the average outing that makes me smile.
