200/2.5 - details

Wide open, not cropped. I love this lens.

Now I'll go on hunting for that 85.

Nice shots Phil, Thomas,

You guys have quite the collection of K series lenses between you. Phil has them all but the 1000/8 (I think) and Thomas isn't far behind. I'm seriously jealous of that K 15/3.5. The K 200/2.5 remains my favourite in K series. If it is new to you welcome to the 200/2.5 club Thomas. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

Thanks. It's not that new. I got it from a shop with the 15, 50 and 400 for what you'd expect to pay for the 15. Clearance sale... The 300/4 is on its way and I'm really on the lookout for an 85. And a 500. And 1000. Stop. Oh, and I need some more wides. And the macros. So rare. Love the "K"s.

K 120 F2.8

Hello. I have DA Ltd's and a bunch of M-lenses. I have been looking for the M 120 F2.8 but it's rare and usually expensive.

I have been offered the K 120 F2.8 for approx $150 USD in Ex. condition. Does anyone have experience with this lens ?

Kind regards
.lars

Yes buy it ASAP!! It's a great lens (very sharp) and a steal at that price.

Both are equally sharp. The K120 is a better portrait lens and the K135 a better telephoto.
It also depends if you are a film user, the 135mm focal length is more useful overall.
The K120 is closer to the K105, if I was going to directly compare it to another K series lens.

K55/1.8

I finally got this lens earlier this month (I mean December 09).
Didn't have many chances yet to try it but so far I really like it. The color rendition and the general IQ seem to be great.
Here is one of the first examples:

PS: I liked it so much that I jumped on good deal for K24/2.8 so I hope I'll be chiming in to this club more often

glad that you like the K55/1.8 Peter. it's resolution is outstanding. if you didn't have the FA31, I would had recommended you the K28/3.5 or the K30 (if you could find one).

Gems

Which lenses are considered gems in the K-series?
Seems like these should be on the list at least, according to what I read in this thread:

28mm F3.5
35mm F3.5
135mm F2.5
200mm F2.5

Kind regards

Truthfully all the K series lenses are gems, there are no bad ones!

If you want specifics you can add to this list the K17/4 Fisheye, K18/3.5, K24/2.8, K24/3.5, K30/2.8, K50/1.4, K50/4 Macro, K55/1.8, K105/2.8 and the K120/2.8. Other members will have their own additional favorites.

However three K series lenses standout above all the others in my opinion:

K28/2
K50/1.2
K85/1.8

These three make a perfect all purpose, all lighting lens kit on film and are true optical gems.

I don't doubt Phill or Luc's opinions on these 3 lenses as being the best of the K series.

Sadly, I don't have any of them - yet.

But as I tend to do most of my shooting in the longer telephoto range this is no surprise.

As a result I would have to add the K 200/2.5 to the list.

Seek this one out if you have a need for a great manual focus lens in this focal length

It is the best of the four K series lenses I own at this time.
