Wow!

I happy to say that I have just purchased two K-lenses, both in excellent condition:
K 120mm F2.8 and K 28mm F3.5.

I paid $200 USD.

It will be interesting to compare the K-120mm with the M-135.

Kind regards
.lars

Wow indeed... I paid $140 for the K28/3.5 alone, you did very well indeed, congratulation. I don't own the K120, but the K28/3.5 is a real gem. Enjoy.

I have spent some time reading about K-lenses. Both the K 30 F2.8 and K 35mm F3.5 seem to be excellent as well. I have a feeling that I will end up with a lot of K-lenses. I am a collector so I will go for rare lenses if they have good IQ. I am glad I purchased the 120mm F2.8 as it seems quite rare.

Gofour3: Quite interesting that you think the 120mm's sharpness is equal to the 135mm F2.5. Based on what I have read the K135mm seems to be the best K-lens between 100-200mm. Why do people consider the 135mm better if the sharpness is the same? Is the 135mm's bokeh better?

Kind regards

K300/4

I received the 300/4 from a forum member today. Nice condition, but missing the slide-out hood. I'll post pictures asap, but it's either gray and dark or dark and dark. Maybe we'll get some sun in the weekend.

Now onto looking for the 85, 120, 500, macros etc.

I don't have the K120 but I have the SMC Tak 120 (and both the 135 in SMC Tak and K). Like the 135s, I am presuming the 120 is the same design between the SMCTak and K but I could be wrong. I don't find the 120 particularly sharp like the 135s....

Great info. The 85/1.8 and 100 macro is at the top of my list anyway.

I might also have a soft copy of the 120.....anyone else have the 120??

You can't go wrong with a good copy of the 85/1.8. I'd be lost without mine...

My 120mm is arriving in a few days. I don't have the 135mm F2.5 so I can't compare them. However, I do have the M135mm F3.5.

I read a little about the 120mm in Chinese and Korean forums and the conclution was (if i understood it correctly) that the 120mm is equal to the 135 F2.5 regarding resolution/sharpness but colors and contrast are more "muted" (which is not surprising for a portrait lens).

Kind regards

Overall I think the K120/2.8 is about the same as the K105/2.8 and the K135/2.5 sharpness wise.

The only reason I rate the K135/2.5 higher in my lens reviews, is that the K135/2.5 is 1/3 of a stop faster and on a film camera 135mm is a more useful all around focal length in my opinion.

Size wise the K135/2.5 has a 58mm filter thread and has more of a “meaty” feel to it.

On digital you my find the 105mm or 120mm better suited.

Phil.

Thanks, I just looked at the resolution tests and was amazed by the results of the M28 F2 (later model). It was actually higher than the K-version.

Kind regards

Hi everyone !

A few years ago my uncle gave me his old pentax lenses, they've been staying a looong time in my cupboard until I saw the K and M club threads, I was amazed by the quality of the pics these old lenses could produce !

I have the pentax K 28 f2.8, K 200 f4 , K 55 f1.8, and M 35-70 f2.8 and A 50 f1.7. Now I can't go outside without one of these ! I love my K 55, its bokeh is great !

If someone is interested I can post some shots taken with these lenses...

You can post them in the K or M club threads. You will find lots of other fans of these fine old lenses who share your enthusiasm there.

It's snowing where I live, I've taken some pics with my manual lenses

With pentax K 28mm f/3.5 :

With pentax K 200mm f/4 :

Then I made a test shot with the K 55mm f/1.8 with an extension tube, it gives very good results for macro :
