Which do you like the best, your 24 2.8 or your 30 2.8?

K 28mm f3.5

This is the only K I have and I think I like it. Last weekend I took some pictures using it in our garden. I found this one to be pretty sharp:

Nevermind the poor compression, I still have to find out what's best
100%ish crop:

Pentax K 300m f/4 with Pentax K T6-2X

Hi all,

My trials with the K 300 and 2X combo continue. This time in the back yard- not as many mosquitos. All shots K10 on monopod, most with AF 360 FGZ flash, ISO 800, between f4 and f8. Think I'm getting a little better with this package. All shots right out of camera with no post processing. Fisrt few are a common Grackle which drove off the smaller birds.

Chickadee

I recently picked up a K 35/3.5 I'm looking forward to trying.
I once had a K 24/2.8 lens. It was nice but I seldom used it.

Pentax-K 300mm F4

Got one of these a few weeks ago, shots all hand held.
For the money it's an excellent lens I think.

100 % crop on k28/3.5

So here is a 100% crop with my k28/3.5.
It is taken with a GX-10, shot raw and converted straight.

It is at 1/400 sec f whatever is between 8 and 11.

I find it very sharp, what do you guys think?

That's a 100% crop from a 28mm?! Wow. Very sharp for 100%. (f/9.5, I think it would be, BTW)

K Club

Nice Chickadee shot Mike. How did you get so close? I had to use a 2X to get my shots. Those birds are really small and dont sit still for long. I used to think 450mm was a good length for wildlife. It is starting to look like entry level to me now. Your dog looks so sad. Must be time for walk. I agree the K 300mm is one of the best bargains out there.

Jay - Interesting composition - I like the way the light works on the silky plant material.

Pieter, Deudue K 28 f3.5 looks like a winner.

Vanchaz nice collection of K glass there. Id like to see more of the 17 and 18mm.

If my memory serves me correctly, the K-28 3.5 and the M-28 3.5 were sharper and nicer lenses than the M-28 2.8? It's been forever since I've used any of the 28's.

By the way I've heard raves about the K-30 2.8, any of you have opinions on that one?

I don't think he wants a walk, it is VERY hot here in Spain at the moment.
I think he is happier now I have given him a bit of shade.

Pentax K 300mm F/4 and K T6-2X combo

He looks happier now Mike. I posted this in the K 300 section but it fits here as well. Here's a few more shots from this morning. Some new visitors to the feeder and a Hummingbird dropped by. I'm going to have to dust off the old Hummingbird feeder and see if we can get anything with this rig.

Cheers,

Tom G

k30

k30 is very sharp even wide open, maybe as sharp as k50/1.4. It's just ideal standard lens when you consider the cropping factor on the digital bodies, although a bit slow. The lens is very compact and contrast is amazing.

I will post some photo this weekend.

Hi,
I've just subscribed to this list as a result of this thread, which is most interesting.
I,m a fanatic about old MF lenses and can not get enough knowledge about them, my present collection consists of,

SMC Pentax f8 1000mm K
SMC Penatx f1.4 50mm K
Super Multi Coated Takumar f4 300mm M42
Novoflex 400mm and 600mm Follow Focus System K
Tokina 500mm Mirror f8 K
Soligor 90-230mm f4.5 M42
Tamaron SP 90mm Tele Macro K

And I love using them, the 1000mm is a new acquisition and I tried it out last weekend on camp,
as I'm not sure how to insert images in this post it's safer if I give a link to them on Flickr.

Pentax - a set on Flickr

Thanks for all the interesting info.
Regards
Greg
