it's nice that you are enjoying the lens Lars. honestly, the 55/1.8 is somehow a very underrated lens and choosing between it and the 50/1.7, I would chose the 1.8 for it's rendering. I just can't understand why most people would prefer the 1.7 over the 1.8. or why there is a huge clamor or popularity for the 1.7 while the 1.8 is not even worth mentioning. I mean, I had seen several threads about how great the 50/1.7 and always have a basis for comparsion but I rarely see one that is dedicated for the 55/1.8. for much less than the 50/1.7's price, you can have yourself the granddaddy of the 55/1.4 for half or lower than the 50/1.7.
this came from the age when the K 55 went for significantly more on ebay than the M F/1.7.

$20-25 for the latter was the norm remember? Hence why everyone including me loved it so much. The K still goes for more than the M just about everytime I see it even today.

I dunno, but everytime I visit ebay, CL, and the marketplace, the 1.7 goes $50+ more than the 1.8. the norm usually for the 55/1.8 is from $40-$100, while the 1.7 from $80-$150 which is ridiculous. I'm not sure how the 1.7's market price became that ridiculously inflated. although as long as the 55 is cheaper, I can't complain.

Very nice as usual Tom, especially like the last one with the orange ball frozen in action!

Phil.
Thanks Phil,

Managed to get a pretty good shot on net this day as well.

Original shot

This lens is so sharp you can you can enlarge and crop without much loss of detail. Yet another reason this is one of my favourite lenses.

She made the save by-the-way.

SMC Pentax K 200/2.5

It was great weather for high school football this afternoon. I took the K 200/2.5 to the game. Here’s some of the action:

Seeing a K85/2.2 Soft on the marketplace has prompted me to post some of my first pics of the copy I picked up a couple of months back.

This is a truly wonderful lens - and unusually compact for a K.

I found shooting with TTL flash to work perfectly with this lens, where you're always changing the aperture to get the desired degree of softness.

adorable and beautiful and wonderful and fantastic and sweet.

There are others photos in this thread also pretty good. You guys are good.

Thanks SMC,

No. Actually, the light was great and I was able to shoot most of them at 1/1000, ISO 400 at f9. This froze the action and gave a reasonable amount of DOF. Pretty much in the sweet spot for the K 200/2.5.

I think I peeped too much - I saw nothing but scar tissue and some great work on the noise reduction. Honest!

Some shots are clearly much better appreciated without the 100%.

Must give my 2.5s an outing. . .

when i said pixelpeeping i really did not mean pixelpeeping. :-D

Nothing great in that shot, i think it is pretty mundane.

In fact i am not uploading the better ones because there is a photo contest and i will be entering it.

Here is one that from rejects.

some from the K 50 f1.2 which I brought out for a walk yesterday

these shot wide open - conferring it a dreamy bokeh and luminosity

This one stopped down, to show how sharp this lens can be

=====================
EDITS

went out again today with the K 50 1.2, another 2 pictures to show the watercolour dreamlike bokeh used wide open, and its f3.2 equivalent

I haven't been able to get out as much as I would like....because of work Anyways, here are a couple from a few months ago. Nothing special about the shots, the first is a little busy, although I like the mix of colours....and the second would have worked better if the butterflies direction was leading into the shot.

Both shot using the K105...
