I dunno, but everytime I visit ebay, CL, and the marketplace, the 1.7 goes $50+ more than the 1.8. the norm usually for the 55/1.8 is from $40-$100, while the 1.7 from $80-$150 which is ridiculous. I'm not sure how the 1.7's market price became that ridiculously inflated. although as long as the 55 is cheaper, I can't complain.
I feel that it has to do a little with sharpness and colour pop. I hear a lot of people comparing lens sharpness, contrast, etc. Sometimes those things are nice, sometimes they are not. However if this is your criteria, then the 50 1.7 would win over the 55 1.8.

My experience is that the 50 1.7 is sharp, at the cost of bokeh. So it's very useful for a lot of things, but is not nearly as moody as the K 55.

Appropriately emo K55 shot :

Tom, you can get better results with MF glass than most shooters can with the better AF glass available--Amazing! Keep treating us to your gift.

Thanks mon ami,

Much appreciated. It's a challenge but it just takes a little practice and timing. People were shooting without AF for a hundred years or so as I recall.
I really don't think about it much anymore. That being said I wouldn't mind having a DA* 200/2.8 or DA* 300/4 in my bag just for the sake of
comparison of course.

Agreed, , I think we all would like to have both of those in our bags--for comparison sakes only--

I am happy!

Wow, a K35/2 for $130 USD

For a long time I have been searching for a low light lens. I love my K28/3.5 and K35/3.5 but sometimes a faster lens (with longer focus throw) is needed. I was lucky a couple of weeks ago.....got the K55/1.8 for a good price. Btw, the K55/1.8 is a wonderful lens, much better than the well regarded M50/1.7. Today I bid $130 for a K35/2 (Swedish auction site) and I never expected to win....but I did

Kind regards
.lars

Congratulations, Lars. How does it compare to K35/3.5 (apart from being faster) ? The space between 28mm and 35mm is quite crowded in the K-series, with 28/2.0, 28/3.5, 30/2.0, 35/2.0 and 35/3.5 (not to mention the 28mm Shift), and so it's useful to get a good idea of the differences.

I haven't received it yet, but I will do a quick comparison for you. According to what I have read the K 35/3.5 is supposed to be a little sharper and also more contrasty. But the K 35/2 has better bokeh and most likely more easy to manual focus. I think you can have both....k35/3.5 as an outdoor lens and K35/2 as an indoor lens.

Kind regards
.lars
