In my experiences, all K lenses are even better on Full frame.
Just Imagine how good they are compared to their superb optical results on APS-C

Weston Bend

I took Wesley on what turned out to be about a 3.5 mile hike at Weston Bend. Unfortunately, photo-wise, it was slim pickins, but I had my K30 and K135/2.5 (and two M lenses that I never mounted) with me.

Do you think this works?

One from last summer with the K35/3.5. I didn't find this old abandoned homestead until just after sundown, so I toned the picture to make it seem more like night time.
Nice shot...makes you wonder what happened for them to have them leave. Someone placed the rope on the side of the building....walked away. All of the memories..Christmas, birthdays etc.

I found our families farms in SK.....sold many years ago. Still found equipment from that era abandoned in the trees and our name listed on some items

I imagine each place would have a different reason. Could be a bad crop year bankrupted them and they had to sell. Also, farms are getting bigger and the number of farmers growing fewer.

Nice shot. There's certainly some interesting contraptions to be discovered.

Went to a car show with a couple of lenses, one of them being the K 55/2. All taken at f2. X-posted with the Bokeh thread.
K20D. PP done in Corel Aftershot Pro - mainly just B&W or film simulation and adding a bit of contrast. Didn't have to touch the sharpness on these...

Great set, CR--but is it just me (or your post processing) or does that lens render a bit differently than, say, the K-series 35mm?

The reason I ask is that I've been trying to educate myself on older Pentax lenses (I'm specifically looking for a mid-focal length, manual focusing lens) and my impression was that the K-series was a much warmer (almost Canon-like) lens, but with the M-series, you start to get the cooler tones that are closer to the modern DA Limited lines I'm familiar with.

Am I on the right track, or is there some sampling error at work here (e.g. that K-series owners only take pictures on sunny days)?

Regarding the rendering - I do find it a bit "colder" than my M 50 1.7. I don't know if it's just my copy. I don't have any other K lenses, so I don't know how it compares. On the pictures above:

Pic 1,2 and 4 - I did change the color temperature just a bit, to warm it up. It's still not "warm" but it's a bit warmer than the SOOC pics.
Pic 3 - disregard regarding color rendering - I chose a Kodachrome emulation which turned it into this blue thing which I thought was pretty cool. The SOOC wasn't like that at all, it was pretty gray.

I don't have any other lens that is as sharp wide open. And now that I have a hood for it, the contrast is nice out in the sun as well.

CR, thanks for the reply--that's very helpful...there's a lot that's appealing about the K series (sharpness not the least!).

I agree. I don't think this lens will be my only K lens for too long

Try the K28/3.5. Can't wait to get back from a long trip to try the newly acquired K24/3.5.

How does the 24 3.5 compare to the 28 3.5 in terms of rendering?

I need a 24 before I need another 28.

Forget-me-not

Pentax K85/1.8, extension tubes (all three of them!), focus rail, tripod, cable release, ref-converter... Sadly the tiny bit of breeze was still enough to cause problems at this magnification.

Pentax K 28mm F3.5

Finally joined this club.

Found a K 28mmF3.5 and tested it yesterday.
Never thought I would be able to use a 28mm lens as a bird lens but heres the proof

First is the full frame and then a crop of that.
EDIT: Added a 100% crop as well.
Just some Lightroom sharpening added.
Shot using my K3

This lens is a true gem! Click on shots to getter bigger versions.
