I tried out my K200/2.5 with the AF1.7 teleconverter (cross-posted with the "single in..." challenge).

Great weekend. My youngest and I fishing for Halibut with a 15 foot surf rod. We're sitting back roasting hot dogs over a fire enjoying the view. The point across the water is in Canada, the mountains beyond that are in the US. There is a fair bit of ocean between the two, but from here, you'd never know it.

Beautiful country--the "blues" folks get out of that lens never ceases to amaze me. (FWIW, I actually had a dream in which I liquidated my modest lens collection and replaced it with the K28/2 and a Zeiss 85--a two-lens kit would be easier to get to the top of the hill, but I'm not sure I could say goodbye to my old-faithful K28/3.5.)

Nice capture Kris.

I've never tried a teleconverter with my K 200/2.5.

Not that easy. The AF range is very small so you have to get it pretty close manually first. I think it might just be simpler to pre-focus manually as I would do normally. The image actually looks much sharper if you click through to the full-sized version.

Thanks, Kris.

Could do with some manual focussing advice when using the K 30mm on an A6000?
It doesn't seem to matter what Im shooting, distance or aperture - the point of focus using the ring to adjust is always at the end, nearly when I can't turn the focussing ring any more - is this normal?

Edgedemon, the best advice that I can offer, is to get one of these: Hoodman HoodLoupe Optical Viewfinder for 3.2" LCD Displays H32

I used to have trouble focusing my Takumars, but since I bought one of these, it's no problem at all.

Yes, it is a little pricey, and it is best used with the camera on a tripod, but this loupe will make hard-to-focus manual lenses easy to focus.

It's also great for reviewing images in bright sunlight.

I wish I had known about this sooner.

I think there is a misunderstanding..

Im curious as to why when Im manually focussing my lens, the point at which the focus is nailed is right at the end of how far I can turn the focussing ring - its the same no matter what setting or how far the subject matter is...

Id expect focus to be in the middle and then Id have the option to turn one way or the other depending on where I wanted to focus?

Yes, edgedemon, there was a misunderstanding on my part; I thought you were simply having trouble optically focusing your lens.

Sorry about that.

From what you're describing, it sounds like there may be a mechanical problem with your lens.

Then again, I'm no expert in this department.

Someone who knows more than I will probably add their opinion.

I should read more thoroughly before offering advice.

Edgedemon-- Certainly no expert myself, but make sure that the front element is secured tightly (i.e. "screwed-in"). I had an episode a few months ago when my K135/2.5 suddenly lost focus--turns out that my faffing about with a close-up filter (and/or screw-in Tak hood) had loosened things up.
