Here is a shot of Great Blue Heron. Me and my friend were shooting shorebirds at the water level,,,front tripod legs in the water and we almost missed this heron just walking right in front
of us really close. This is only slightly cropped image. The background came out nice with orange glow created with sun setting low. I love the output of this old lens.

Shot with K-50 and SMC 500mm f/4.5

I normally wouldn't do 1.2 portraits.... anyway K50/1.2 on K-1 @ 1.2....was a quite dark Brewery.... Iens performed better then I'd thought.

Poor George has had a stiff year or two.... Brain Aneurysm.... followed later by requiring a pace maker.

just a quick question for the K-club:

I am considering a K200/2.5 and am curious about how it compares to an A*200/2.8 - looking for experience/opinions and if the added 'A' functionality is worth the additional premium on the A*200....

thanks in advance....

Don't know the A* but I have the K200/2.5 which I bought after acquiring and falling in love with the K135/2.5.
The 200 has similar characteristics: great bokeh, very sharp and lovely to use.
It is pretty heavy though, I have an M*300 and they're the same size.

For what it's worth, I have a couple of A's but I mostly use my K's and don't really miss the 'A' functionality. I tend to start with the aperture though so using the green button means I don't really need it.

You definitely won't regret buying one but how much you'll use it?

Here's a few samples (the first three are with the K-3, the last two with the K-1):

thank you, Stuart, this is what I am looking for...

I agree that it weighs more than the normal telephoto, and weighs twice as much as a DA 55-300 zoom.... I'll definitely be thinking mono/tripod for serious use with it...

and the thought of how often would I use it is a valid one.... how often do you pack yours, anticipating to use it?

I haven't used it too much, but when I take it out it tends to stay on the camera all day and I look for shots for it.

We're hiring a motorhome next week and driving it down the coast of Italy to Pompeii, I shall be taking it along with the 135, 85, 50 and 30 Ks, the only other lens I'm taking is my A20.
Expect a lot of rocks, ruins and Mediterranean sunsets!
