The 55 1.8 is the first non-kit lens I bought almost two years ago, since then many other passed in my k-mount but it still proves himself useful.
This is what I got yesterday with a tripod and a remote command.

From the past few pages it looks like there are a few of us in the BC lower mainland/island that collect K glass...

I just received a box of manual lenses from a fellow forum member, which included the 135/2.5, 200/2.5, 300/4.0 and 400/5.6. The 200 is an amazing lens, (I still need to take the 300 and 400s out). I now seem to have 2 of the 135s so I'll have to let one go here fairly soon. Here are a couple of shots using the 135 from my drive into work a week or so ago. There is some PP work but not much...the colors were crazy that morning.

Truthfully all the K series lenses are gems, there are no bad ones!

If you want specifics you can add to this list the K17/4 Fisheye, K18/3.5, K24/2.8, K24/3.5, K30/2.8, K50/1.4, K50/4 Macro, K55/1.8, K105/2.8 and the K120/2.8. Other members will have their own additional favorites.

However three K series lenses standout above all the others in my opinion:

K28/2
K50/1.2
K85/1.8

These three make a perfect all purpose, all lighting lens kit on film and are true optical gems.

Phil.
The K30/2.8 and the K85/1.8 are my mostly used lenses. I don't have the K28/2.0 yet but hopefully sometime this year.

I'm sure it is something I am doing wrong, but I get better results from these lenses than I do my FA ltds. I am also having limited success with the K50/1.2, but it could be how I am trying to use it....

Thanks for all the advices

Thanks everyone...for answering my questions. In addition to the 120mm F2.8 I have also been offered the K 28mm F3.5. As far as I can read both the F3.5 and F2.0 are good, but what is the major difference between them apart from speed? I guess they're both sharp enough, but what about bokeh ?

Kind regards
.lars

Hello Lars,

Did you had a look at Phil's review on this web side? It explains pretty much what the K28/2 is all about.
This one was taken in the late afternoon/early evening with no flash.

Cheers,

Luc

Wow... nice acquisition all at once ! I really like this shot, must have been the one morning that I slept in ;-) Just got the 135/2.5 and so far I am quite impressed by it. I was expecting more CA actually. By the look of your images, you're obviously on Vancouver Island.

Could you please give my address to your personal Santa Klaus
This is a serious set of excellent long lenses. Thanksfully I decided already some time ago that I would shoot no longer than the K135/2.5 or I would become your best friend .
Still nice lenses... enjoy as you have already started.

Cheers,

Luc

happy new year and nice lens you got there smc. I would love to have that 135, but finding it difficult to decide whether to get that or save for an FA version since I would need it for street photography.

I don't have the f2 version but generally a faster lens would have more OOF and subject isolation. but according to some of the reviews and testing sites (before I got my copy), the K28/3.5 has the best resolution among the 28s. so far basing from the images I got from it, it has great sharpness and contrast, no distortion, good bokeh and great colors as well.

Thanks for the comments...

Roger....I'm in Victoria as well. I've seen a little more activity on usedvictoria and craigslist for K and Takumar lenses....could that be you?

Luc...you probably don't want to attach the K200 to your camera...you might end up wanting one... It's quite different from the f4 version.

Pentaxor...re the 50mm. I need to take it out some more. I really have just used it once and I didn't have any "keepers", which might have been my fault. Sometime over the next month I'll take it out wiht another 50mm to do some comparison shots...

I felt the same way when I first tested my K50/1.2, to say the least I was disappointed.
This lens is more of a creative tool, than an all purpose standard lens and I find you have to use it that way.

Try it more for close-up shots and experiment with the brokeh. It took me awhile and then bingo! When you get the 3D shots or the amazing brokeh you will know what I mean, it just takes time to get used to it.

Nice bundle of telephotos you got for Xmas!

Also nice shots everyone, keep on posting them!

Phil.

While I have not been all that successful snatching things up on the usedvictoria and craigslist, I certainly been checking quite regularly. I haven't put up anything for sale, although now that I have the K135/2.5 I might let go my M150. I had one successful purchase, a minty A50/1.7... along with a P3n body for 25$, that one was a good deal I must admit !

Cheers,
