- A tugboat. Heavily cropped. 210mm.
- A ferry. Focal length is around 100 mm.
- TV Tower and memorial to those who fell in WW2. 210mm.
- A cargo ferry. 210mm.
- Another ferry approaching the port. The focal length was around 150mm.
- Sunset over Tallinn bay. Seaplane hangars in the background.

All these shots were processed in SilkyPix 7. Quite a number of them were deliberately underexposed, to preserve highlights.

I saw this Ricoh camera and lens up for auction and though I could not identify the lens from the image, offered an amount I didn't mind possibly wasting for the opportunity to find out what this lens was. I won the auction and it arrived and I shot a few digital images with it.
It turned out to be a constant 3.5 aperture Vivitar 35-105mm zoom with a close focus mechanism. (Well closer than the MFD without it.)
A quick look through the WWW seems to indicate it may have been made by Tokina, though their own 35-105 does not seem to be a constant aperture.
It does not seem to maintain focus point through the focal lengths and at 105mm seems to focus on infinity before reaching it on the lens scale. Is this to be expected?
I like the lens, weighty though it is and would appreciate a forum member providing their insight into it.

The Ricoh camera seems to work well, I have only just run a film through it and will get it processed. Seems a nice camera, though obviously lots of plastic and the handgrip is not comfortable. I'm happy I took a punt.

How did I miss this?

If I'm zooming, I'm manual unless I have the 10-20 in play.

Probably my favorite manual lens is the Sears 70-210, simply because it has an almost Russian 'swirly bokeh' quality combined with more than a bit of the touch of the infamous 'glow' that the Sears 135mm macro kicks out.

Wait, bit of a touch? More like clubbed with a sledgehammer...

Luckily this trait is easily avoided if you aren't trying to deliberately do so.

A shot that shows off that Russian-like swirl.

And of course birds. Its small enough to be useful for such things if you have birds that are cooperative enough to stay relatively close by.

SMC Pentax-A zoom 35-105mm f 3.5 constant

I just found this thread for the first time. I have always been a prime lens shooter, and do not use zoom lens except for my manual zoom 31-43-77 limited. :>) However, I recently found an eBay low price listing of the A35-105.
This heavy and well-built lens is seriously sharp, and the macro function is quite convenient. Actually, it might be amusing to watch me using a zoom lens. Once I have set the zoom at a particular FL, I catch myself walking backwards or forward in
order to obtain the desired framing of the shot. For a zoom lens with a sweet spot FL, zooming with your feet maybe makes sense, but this lens seems to be
sharp throughout its FL range.

Nothing conveniently at hand to show, but will be posting something real soon.

I'm sure you'll enjoy your new zoom Ivan.

Here's a few taken with the M35-70/2.8-3.5, one of my favorites. The girls and I were out at a recently flooded lake park.
