Hello there! I'm joining this thread late, as I've only just stumbled across it. Thank you for all of your beautiful and inspiring photos. I'm going to say right from the beginning, that I've only had this lens for a few months, and haven't taken nearly enough photos with it yet. But you have to start somewhere . Attached are two photos from a trip to Coffee Bay

This lens feels like an FA LTD. It's got a bit of that pixie dust magic.

You use the 24-70 frequently to good effect. I do not recall if you use the FA Ltds much but if you do I would be interested in how you would compare them to the 2470. Thanks

It's hard to know how to answer. I own the FA 31 and 77. I use the DFA 24-70 as a walk around and landscape lens and I don't shoot landscapes much with the FA 77, mostly shallow depth of field portraits where it is quite a bit better than the DFA. As far as the FA 31, it is better at 31 mm and the DFA is better at the other focal lengths.

To try to sort it out a little better, I shoot landscapes at f8 or f11 and at that aperture they are equivalent with regard to sharpness. The FA 31 has better colors, less distortion, and better micro contrast to my eyes. It also is a bit more flare resistant (although it isn't great). The DFA is more flexible, has significantly less purple fringing and is a lot bigger (that's not a positive). I still end up shooting a lot with the DFA 24-70 because it is "good enough" and it affords me the flexibility of going wider. Honestly, if Pentax comes out with a 20-ish mm prime, I would be much more likely to go out with it than the FA 31 which feels just a hair long for my tastes.

Hope that helps.

Thanks, Rondec. That was very informative and exactly the kind of analysis I was looking for.
