A Christmas day shot of my daughters. They both live in Melbourne now, so it was lovely to have them both home together.

Wide open and slightly back focussed, but overall the effect is pleasing

Yeahhh ! Nice to have your daughters with you for Christmas !

Love that shot, it's exactly what this lens can do, it has the kind of nice softness that is great for portrait.

I'm not talking of the back focus of this image which is OK to me for 2 people @ f/2.8. You can't really have both people in focus at that distance and this aperture.
Really nice shot Sandy, congrats !

This lens is very useful in the studio, nice for portrait from 35-40mm and more...

The switch to FF has a learning curve though

Yeah Sandy, it certainly is. All that country around Lorne and around to London Bridge was beautiful.

My last pics of the year...
I like this little bridge, and thought it would make a great subject for the Pentax K-1 Pixel Shift mode!

Happy New year to all! All the Best!

A shot of Portmeirion by night, rounding off the Christmas shots for this year! Really hideous lighting, and it was a bit windy for long exposures. This is a three-shot HDR with heavy processing, a rather challenging scene even to get this far (beyond my capabilities to get it how I wanted it to look I think!).

And these are holiday cottages at Beddgelert, Snowdonia.

A Couple of my Favorites

My D FA 24-70 is now my primary lens and I've had some great opportunities to use it for landscapes. Both shots are unedited except for resizing. The canyon shot was only possible at 1/10 second due to the fine SR of the K-1 as tripods were not allowed at that time and light was low. Cheers!
