That lens puts up some nice macro shots--like the last one most--tx.

Pretty nice work! The Cosina macro is a reasonably priced option and does a decent job despite the plastic build.

Ode to Stevbrot & this most excellent thread. This is my $15 Osawa 70-210 Macro f4-5. A sleeper if ever there was one, with very good to excellent throughout the range. Easy, pleasurable to MF, well buit & happy to perform upon APS-c. Find one, buy it, and be happy.

I'm guessing f 5.6, @ 1/80th, w tri-pod, ISO 320. BTW, Get a new lens, and go to the state of Vermont to test it.

Odd Lens Help

Hello All:

I picked up this lens at a great price (why else do we do it??!!) and tried putting it on my K7 but this larger than normal lip keeps it from mounting all the way.

This shot shows the lip.

I am sure if I trim the lip off, it will fit, I just hate doing this to any lens.
Also, the frame mask and lip can both come off (the mask can be unscrewed), but it will leave the aperture lever exposed and susceptible to being bent if I am not careful.

Also, can anyone explain what K style camera this was designed for?

All options will be considered! Thanks.

OK folks:

I was able to get my own question answered from previous posts! For this "lip" issue, you can go to the following link:

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/56987-vivitar-...oesnt-fit.html

The exact same thing was keeping a Vivitar lens from mounting on a K20. After a couple of careful runs with my Dremel tool, voila! and the lip is gone! I left enough to protect the aperture arm. I have already popped this baby onto my K7 and this is a sharp lens! I did some experiments with it in macro and wow! I will take some more shots and post them soon!

I guess this is another side of choosing Pentax over the Canikons. There is so much glass to choose from out there and it is all usable! Try doing that with an old Canon FD lens or old Nikon with the meter linkage!

I need help!

I just bought a focal 70-210mm lens made for Minolta and I have a Sony alpha series camera. Will this lens fit this camera? I suppose I should've figured that part out first....

Only the Minolta Maxxum lenses will work on the Sony. I think the Maxxum lenses are auto-focus. The older MD mount will not fit. There might be an adapter available though - not sure. I researched this a bit last year when I got my wife a 50mm f/1.7 Maxxum prime for her Sony A300.

If being wierd is a qualifier for this group, well...

This an Albinar 28mm f2.8 Macro lens that arrived brand new (or dang close) at my mailbox and lasted all of about 15 minutes before I dropped the thing, causing a dent and rattle before I could try reselling it to recoup my loss (all $10 of it).

So I butchered an old Sears zoom lens for the mount and played swapsies.

I can't focus infinity, but I CAN hold the lens 3 inches away from my target and get a clean shot with a scary-small depth of field. I can also focus out within an average room's size, so the lens is useful, at least.

Some samples...
