I remember reading [I don't recall where!] that the old m39 lenses, not the LTM ones, have an ever so slightly different flange focal distance than M42 lenses.
Correct! See scratchpaddy's comment here, where he discusses using his ZM39 lenses with a m39 to m42 adapter.

Does anybody know what the exact difference is?
I'm trying to manufacture a hand full of adapters for my lenses (and those that I don't own yet ) and thought it'd be cool do just take that difference, if there is one, into account
I've quoted the 45.2mm distance you mentioned in this thread before, but I'm going to guess that ultimately my source for the number is the same as yours. I'm thinking you're going to have to measure yourself eventually.

Pentax P3, Ilford HP5 Plus 400. Helios 44K-4. Developed and scanned by Ilford Labs in UK. For these shots I used a Pentax O-ME53 eyecup magnifier to improve the precision of focusing. As a result - zero misfocused shots. Another interesting observation : on film the corners of the frame look quite sharp as opposed to shots from a dSLR.

I am thinking about buying a Tair lens from the internet. What exactly is the difference between the Tair 3S and the Tair 3 PhS lenses? And which one is newer or - in any way - better?

Jupiter-12:

Jupiter-8M:

Most of this roll didn't turn out, with most shots being noticeably underexposed. Either I misjudged my exposures, or the film (given to me by an acquaintance) was slightly more expired than I was led to believe.

I've been using the Jupiter 21M lens this month as my Single In June lens. I've found it to be an excellent lens, albeit a bit heavy. Here's a few from the month, all taken on the Pentax K5 (and cross posted from the Single In June threads):

Never knew they made Volna 1.8 in M42, I thought it was a strictly a K mount lens.
