Back from the dead, is the MIR-1b

Got a mostly dead copy for $20 with a good back element, swapped rear elements and fixed the focus. She lives!

Pardon the barrage, but I cried when this lens broke. Having it back is just an amazing feeling.

Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 35mm f2.4

I just got this lens yesterday. Though I have three Takumars in the 35mm focal length, a Super Takumar 35mm f3.5, an Auto-Takumar 35mm f3.5, and an SMC Takumar 35mm f2, as well as a Mir 1, the close focusing capability and reviews saying its IQ is superior to the Taks persuaded me to get one. I'm still on the fence with it. It seems selecting the proper aperture when close focusing with this lens is very important to ensure the subject is fully in focus. That will take some learning. The colors are significantly cooler than I'm used to with the Takumars as well, and I do prefer the warmer palette of the Taks. The lens doesn't seem to me to be any more or less sharp than the Taks or have more or less contrast. Anyway, some samples. I did warm the color a bit by adjusting brightness and/or gamma but not by much. I'll have to try using a polarizer.

Love that bug photo.

(It's slightly less active, but there is also an East German lens thread here: East German Lens Club.)

Looks like a nice lens, but yes, colors are much cooler than what you see with the Taks.

Early test shot with a new-to-me Industar 50-2:
