No problems, I payed $275USD for mine excluding postage.
Ussualy the Helios 40-2 goes for about 100USD more than the Helios-40. The Helios 40-2 has better coating and the filter size is a 67mm (which allows you to put filter or a hood) whule the Helios-40 has a non standart 66mm filter ring size.
Regarding IQ there is no visible difference between the two model, but the 40-2 might be protected against flare.

Soviet PK-mount lenses

Daniel,
thanks very much for the filter tip on the Zenitar!

Another find,
which I did not know about,
there was a soviet Nikon F2 copy with PK-mount!
This was called Xalmaz, and here is some more info on soviet PK-mount lenses,
Rare soviet lens(PK-bayonet) list 13.01.2008

The reason why I was looking it up is an MC Volna 1.8/50 (also has the 'Lomo' name on it, all in cyrillic letters) in PK-mount that fell into my hands.

MC Volna/Lomo 1.8/50 + polarizer on K100D, no pp

MC Volna/Lomo 1.8/50 on K100D, some pp

That is the fleamarket stand I got it from, really hard to resist once you get sight of it. I should not go there anymore :-)
The lens itself seems to be hard to focus, which I am hoping is due to the fact that it's got lots of microcontrast - another good portrait lens, will post portraits if I get permission, we'll see.
All the best,
Georg (the other)

Can an LTM Industar-61 be hacked to M42?

HELP! I use a K20D and numerous M42 lenses, via adapters. I bought a Jupiter-9 85/2 M39 lens and, via adapters, it works fine on the K20D. Then I bought (on eBay, of course) an Industar-61 52/2.8 and a Leitz Elmar 90/4 on L39 bases. Oops. Register mismatch!! (LTM=28.8mm, M42=45.46mm). There's not much I can do with the Elmar except butcher it or sell it, but that Industar is different. The lens block sits inside a threaded tube, mounted far forward in the tube. IT SEEMS TO ME that, if I invested in a lens spanner, I could relocate that lens block back ~16.7mm so the registers match and the lens will infinity-focus. HAS ANYONE HERE TRIED THIS? I could use some encouragement.

I tried this and the best I could get out of the modified lens was a lens suitable for close focus photos. From the few close focus shots I did with this modified lens I can tell the optic is of a very good quailty, crisp sharp pictures with beautiful bokeh, but only usable for close focus.

Go for the M42 version of the Industar-61 if you can find one or better get the Volna-9, which is of the same optical design but can focus down to 1:2 macro.

Beautiful pictures from a beautiful lens.
The M39 silver version I bought has arrived but unfortunately I am abroad and will be able to get my hands on "her" after one week.

Just a quick question, Voe:

Does your MIR-1 lens also feature a 10-blade aperture?

I don't remember the number but it looked like there were more than 9 baldes. I am abroad and I going back in a week, so I can't confirm the exact number of blades until then.

I managed to take some sample photos with my newly acquired Helios-40 during my lunch brake today.
All the images here are shot at f/1.5 and are straight from the camera.

I think I have a keeper lens.

Yes, I like it a lot. I can see that it's sharper than I expected. I bought this lens especially for it's specific bokeh, and I can't wait for the weekend to come to take more photos with it.
