Taken with my lowly helios 44m-6 on my k-x

I was trying to get some sunset photos after the bad weather went through, butthe sky was totally clear, BUT above me I notice the clouds were starting to swirl and flail around as the sun dipped below the horizon

It looks HDR , but it isnt!

Have fun with your Helios 40 !

I'm sorry I couldn't reply, but I don't own any of those two lenses . I reckon both are very attractive despite being quite different...

Steel Balls with Water Droplets

K10D, 58mm Helios-44-2 f/2, extension tubes, flash.
This lens (originally from a Zenit E) is wonderfully sharp in the centre, at the expense of being very soft at the edges - which I often quite like, as many others seem to.
Pretty good performance for non-coated glass, and I like the curious preset iris too.

A question about taking care of old soviet silver lenses:

how would I clean it up so it becomes shiny again? I won the helios 40 like I said , but Ive seen similar auctions on ebay ( for alot more) where the lenses look like they are brand new or have been buffed up with a polishing wheel on a dremel or something

is there something I am missing, like a product that removes dullness and oxidisation?
