Very Nice. I like my Telear a lot.

Few more from Helios 40-2
All are F1.5 or 2

Has this weird effect as though it's zooming in or out fast toward focus point.

Really! Which version do you have?
I've been looking for some output from the 250mm version as well.
But it seems rather rare.

Ah, cool!
So does yours have the Nikon protrusions on the rear also?
When I first got mine, it had these.
And when I tried it on my K20D.
I couldn't tell if they were interfere ring or not with the mount.
However, this round, I decided to remove them(removed the ring, and filed them down). After which I mounted one of the thin M42/K mount adapters and to my surprise, the lens shot to infinity and the performance seemed improved.

Anyways, I've always found the K-5 to be tougher on CA and PF.
But this lens seems to be very good on the K-5.

Don't you think that Helios 44 doesn't have good vibrant color. These were designed for BW photography and may not perform as well as many non soviet lenses. In Japan and US color photo came much earlier than in USSR. repaap pix are very similar to my Helios 44M 4 - a bit gray or dusty blacks.

Not really, good glass is good glass and it does not really mater contrary to urban myth about B&W vs Color, MC does help and sometimes does not but mainly with contrast not color.

Helios 44M- were just as good in color photography than any Japanese or German lenses (U.S did not produce anything of good glass at all and relied mainly on Japanese).

Here's a few Helios 44M/K photos (posted before).... Seem very colorful to me. I'm sure you'd find even better examples in this thread.

Helios 44- Cat.

These pictures were my "first shots", with this lens and I did some comparision with this and M50/1.4 and Helios is less "controlled", but alredy warmer IMO, I'm still learning to how to use this lens, but let's see. I have good feeling for this baby...

I just spent the weekend in Montreal for the Grand Prix du Canada (Formula 1 for those that dont follow it). My Tair-11a is my longest lens, and my only lenses >50mm are the J9 and Tair11, so I took the Tair with me, and got some action shots. I was very happy with how it performed! MF just meant pre focusing was required...and no Tv mode meant I just shot on Av mode with the aperture closed up to give me approximately the shutter speed I was looking for on panning shots. Most shots were lacking in contrast a lot, mainly due to the fact they were a bit over-exposed, but also probably due to the single coating on the Tair. Nothing a quick PP in Lightroom didnt fix right up in a snap. It took me a little while to warm up with panning, it had been a long long time since I had done any.

You can view the full set of Tair-11a shots from the GP here on Picasa

And here is my detailed review of the Tair-11a, which I forgot to post last time!

In small format, anyway. The Kodak Ektar large-format lenses were quite nice for their time.
