Well, I know f2 gives very reduced DOF... But I don't know why with the three Helios-44 I own my K100D gives me the "focus confirm" info even when the picture is obviously OOF.
When I've some time to install a tripod and make some little tests, I'll check the Helios-44 behaviour at f2 more carefully, and compare it with the S-Tak f1.8/55.

Taken with a Pentax KX and a Helios 44m-6 Manual lens at F2.8 .

We were out all day at a museum and a country fall fair , and then we popped by a graveyard to pay respects, and this is the best picture I took all day, possibly one of the best of my youngest child Ive ever taken

let me know what you think

Let me say it's nicely focused ! With such a reduced DOF, it's not that easy to do, and children never stay in place !

The K-X is better managing pictures of red flowers than the K100D.

Here's one made with a very cheap pancake lens (Industar 50-2) :

Serious red !

This one with Helios-44M-4, nearly WO (and the operator in the glass). Hard focusing ! No p.p. , just downsized.

Jupiter 6-2.
Will take some pics with it when I'll get some time off.
It did not fit K100D S and barely on to K-x.

Next to Volna 3

57 , thats my dream lens!! I didnt even know they made a dash 2 version in black, I am always getting outbid on the silver ones

The prices are geting so high, its almost easier now to grab a Sonnar 180/2.8 instead of the clone!

I to was looking for this lens for a wile. I got really lucky on this one, it's very clean overall and no defects, pretty good workmanship.
I paid much less for this one then I did for my Helios 40-2 and I'm not sure why but on avarage they cost less than Helios 40 but are much more rare and they are very rare in -2.
I've read that Sonnar 180/2.8 can brake after a while, in other words they are not as though as Soviet lenses. Russians overbuild most of their stuff anyway.

Few really quick test shots I took as soon as I got the lens.
