here is a comparison shot of that ring again, this time taken with the Helios 40 85mm at 1.5

And here is one I converted to Black and White ( which I think the helios 40 does really well!!)

I agree, I was just showing that I prefer the B+W of the Helios 40, its way too soft and has too much flare/chroma(?) at f1.5

It produces much better photos than my 2 Helios 44's (44-6 and 44-2) and has a longer range (80mm) vs 50 so it's better for portraits.
Overall I rank it higher than any Soviet 50mm and in some case even better than Helios 40 just because it's so much lighter and faster to use, besides in daytime 2.8 is more that good enough.

Few more pics at Lake Tahoe past weekend (very scenic area), I'm jealous of people who live there year round. Probably the best location for star/moon photography.

This one was corrected in paint shop........

I notice that factory focusing screen is not very accurate on K-x so I'll see how it does once I install different one.
It made a world of a difference on K100D with Katzeye.

I have a Zenitar K-2 50mm f/2 that I've bought as my first prime for K100D. I rarely use this lens now because I already have the FA 50mm f/1.4 and the soviet glass is somewhat jammed (stuck on f/2 aperture). Still, I really love the lens especially the bokeh it produces in portraits. A good lens to have in your bag for warm pictures. Here are a couple of shots I took using my Zenitar:

Testing Volna 3 on K100D S first time...... I'm convinced now that K100D S is a better camera than K-x.
Just a few pic around house, a few were processed slightly.
