I think this image captures virtually everything that is possible to capture with a 44-2. Internal oily lens flare, external lens flare, swirls, soft edges, pastel and watery like bokeh, post processing excess etc. etc. Edit...as in post above...must try to avoid these excesses in future!

Here are some shots from my lenses. The photos are in the following order.

Helios 44M-7
Industar 50-2
Helios 44M-4
Jupiter 37A

I generally shoot at 100 ISO unless I absolutely have to do otherwise, so it's pretty safe to assume these are at 100 ISO.

I think all except the 44M-4 shot were at f5.6. The 44M-4 shot is probably either f2 or f8.

Shutter speeds vary based on the ISO and f-stop and lighting.

All have been cropped differently to achieve the desired photo, but they should help display some of the abilities of the lenses. I don't think I did much back end processing on these, so they can be taken as nearly 'raw'. Perhaps some contrast/brightness adjustments and/or sharpness enhancing.

Love the interesting iris silhouette from so many of the FSU lenses.

Nice shots, the last two are my favs, especially the last one. I have that Jupiter and am very happy with it.

Any good macro lenses I could keep an eye out for? I don't have one in my kit at the moment (DA35, DA18-135, FA77, 44M-6 and Sigma 10-20). I don't really have a great desire to do a lot of macro work, but sure would like to have one in my collection for when I do.

Vivitar 105/2.5 macro is great
Macro Takumar 50/4 - 1:1 is super
Macro Takumar 50/4 - 1:2 is also super
Tamron AF 90/2.8 one of the best
Sears 55/2.8 Macro - 1:2 One of the best

Your pick. I have them all.

I don't think the Soviets ever made one, if that's what you're asking, but Pepe has some good suggestions otherwise. You can always use an extension tube like shiner did, too.

Here's some more with my Helios hand grenade, the 40...
