I have a RUSSIAN MTO 500mm mirror lens , bought in teh 1960's frmo a camera dealer called 'Brocks cameras' long since gone broke -- I uswed to use it with B&W film for Sport for the local newspapers -- it fould teh Pentaprism of my Digital K10D but it works ok wioth all my screw-thread cameras -- it came with a wooden box and several useful filters I use on my Pentax 6x7 and Hasselblad -- it came with a M42mm screw adapter over the Leica M39mm thread as it was really designed for Russian Zenith earlt M39 models ... Shown with one of my Zeniths

Praktica MTL3. 'Activa 200' ( Konica) film outdated rated at 100 ASA

Praktica LB, 2002 outdated Fuji Press 800 film rated 200 ASA -- I put the car lights out of focus the show the 'Doughnut' effect'

New acquisition ... images to come later ...

Arrived yesterday ... a cheap French fleabay purchase ... roughly treated, but good glass ... a Jupiter 11A 135/4 ... probably the filthiest lens I have ever bought, but I will clean it up and will hopefully have some fun with its 12 blades ... Salut, J (xpost)

I had one of those about 20 years ago. I used it with a converter, on my ME Super and it was very sharp indeed.

Me, too ... I need to clean it up a bit ... a really dirty and stiff-ish focus helix inside the lens ... Salut, J

I'll do you one better and post a shot with my 13-blade Helios 44!

The Soviets sure did like their blades.

edit: Hey, this is post 1990: the year I was born! My bike is older than I am, and this lens is much older...

I believe the # of blades has less effect than people think. It changes the shape of the out-of-focus highlights, and the number of points on highlight starbursts. That's about it. The smoothness of the bokeh is all about the glass.

What!? Here I was, thinking you were the Helios King, with cabinets full of them... but you don't have one of the 13-blade versions? I've lost all respect for you!

It's one of the earliest versions, unpainted, with an M39 mount. I don't have any pictures of the lens, but I'll make one later for ya. They can be found on e-bay fairly easily. Maybe they never sold them in France? I got mine from a reputable eBay dealer from the Ukraine.

In the meantime, there's an excellent post on another forum that lists pretty much every Helios 44 version ever made. It's the 6th post here:

Complete Helios Lens list anyone?
