Here are a few shots of two LED christmas "trees" close to home. Helios 44-M wide open on the K3. So far it seems that the nice bubbly bokeh (such as that shown in the last photo) only appears within a certain range of being out of focus, somewhere in the middle between almost in focus and being way out of focus.

I used my Industar 50-2 quite a bit in November, and it's a fun little lens - here's one more from some local ponds:

The two dollar bill is very rarely seen in circulation though it's still legal tender. In fact, I was reading last night about a thirteen year old in Houston, TX who was turned in to the police by the school lunchlady for trying to use one to pay for some chicken nuggets. The police took her away and told her she could be in some very serious trouble for trying to pass counterfeit money . . . She missed lunch but later got her $2 bill back.
I was offered and accepted a dozen of them from a bank here in Bangkok some years ago when doing a currency exchange. They seemed to consider them a nuisance.
Picture taken at f11, slightly cropped and brightened.
What do you use to process them? Photoshop refuses to open photos of currency. It must have an algorithm that can detect it is a photo of money.

I never heard about that before. I used my normal workflow, Play Memories Home to import from my camera and then Lightroom and Viveza (Nik) to process them. I hope no one is using my picture to counterfeit $2 bills . . .

Industar 50-2 50mm f3.5

I should have checked my sensor as it was evidently filthy!

Mir 1, early m39 version

I've had this lens for awhile but was under the impression that it wasn't sharp at infinity. I ordered what was described as an m39 to Nex converter on eBay hoping there would be just enough difference in the flange distance to render a sharp image at infinity. Well, the converter arrived yesterday but it was an l39 to Nex one and entirely unsuitable. I hadn't tried the lens with the Sony a7 I bought a few months ago, so I put it on. The first image was cropped (the lens can't focus that closely; MFD is about .7 meters) and slightly upsized. The second image had some vignetting in the upper corners. Both were shot at f11.

Another shot from later this morning. Shot at f11. Though I didn't use one for this shot, I think overall the lens would benefit in terms of contrast and color saturation and apparent sharpness from the use of a polarizer.

Hi Goats. It does. I think this lens has an issue with veiling flare. Having the sun behind helps a lot, and I guess you really should use a good lens hood with it. It probably won't get too much use from me. The Tak 35's are better, and I have a few others, including an Enna Lithagon 35mm f3.5 that gets pretty bad reviews that I'm curious to try. Happy New Year.

I put a screw-on hood on my m42 MIR 1-B after getting some flair in my first tests of it. I don't recall having any problem since I put the hood on it, though I'm not sure that I have tested it with especially severe light coming from the front.
