Soviet lenses club

Just got my hands on an early version (smallest aperture 22) of the Zenitar 2/50. Charming little lens, lots of plastic, but surprisingly heavy. When it arrived, the focusing was extremely stiff, so I opened it and got rid of some horrible grease and other gunk. There's no helicoid properly speaking, just two tabs on the lens barrel moving back and forth in the spiral groove of a plastic cylinder... Ingenious, but not very smooth. Because of the mechanics I can't see it becoming a favourite, and it's really a pity, since the optics are great.

R-Helios 100 (Medium or possibly large format Soviet TV camera lens).

How it would looks on DSLR
Even on 35mm this hood does not cause vignetting.

Nice results, seems to be a pretty good lens, well captured children shots, my kids always took off the second they saw the camera.

Newly acquired Jupiter 11A, was hoping to acquire a Tair but not disappointed with this lens. SOOC jpeg, cropped.

Recent addition.

Some of the Helios 40 series.

My cameras with Soviet glass.

Mirrorless are the most ideal when it comes to manual lenses.

The fourth shot above shows a Zenit Mir 20/3.5 on the right. I have just taken delivery of one myself, as well a re-acquisition of a Helios 44-2, the first (mint!) copy of which I stupidly gave away before the K-1 was released.

So once I get hold of an OEM K-mount adaptor (currently out of stock @ B&H), I'm back in the club

When you get around to shooting with your Mir-20, might you check to see if you get any issues with de-saturation and/or a blue-ish tint in the corners (especially the corner opposite to the strongest prevailing light source)?

See my thread HERE from a couple of years ago, to see the effect I'm describing. It has limited my enjoyment of the lens, in all honesty, though I really like it when I can control the "problem". I'm not the only one that has noticed this, so I'm interested to know if you experience the same issue.

Since posting that thread, I acquired a full set of the rear-mounted "rounded glass" filters to match the lens, but even with the UV filter fitted, I still see the effect. I've even noticed it on several online photos taken with Zenit film cameras from the same era as the lens, so I'm confident it's not just me being daft

It's also worth bearing in mind that my tests have been with the Sony A7 MkII and Hasselblad HV (Sony A99), and not with a Pentax K-1 or K-1II...

Will do. Mine came with three filters - UV, Yellow and Green. I'll try them all.

Ah yeah, the Kaleinar 3 is a quite good lens, even though it's hard to use, first due to its weight, but also due to its incredibly shallow "sharp area". some says it's soft, it might be the version though. I personnally have the post-96 version with the new body design and colours on the depth of field indicator window. It works fine but unfortunately my pentacon 6 to pentax K adapter (from K&F Concept) is stuck on it and I absolutely can't get it off, even with WD40

... and note too that the filter thread part is very thin so it can be bumbed very easily (I talk from experience).
