Out of interest, do you use catch-in-focus or is it a case of focus confirmation and snap? Or just go by eye?
Thanks very much! If the subject is moving, I set the focus to a good distance depending on the size of the subject, then use burst mode as they (hopefully) cross the focal plane. With dogs, it's hard to tell exactly when and where they'll wind up in the frame, and they may stay in the focal plane for a few of the shots, which lets me pick the best one. The dog park is perfect for it, since there's possible subjects zooming all over the place. I frame the shot and hope they run into it. Sometimes they just run into me instead, but these old lenses are tough.
If the subject is sitting still, I use focus peaking and live view zoom.
It's good to see another classic Soviet lens put to good use! You should take Mabel and your Jupiter to the beach. You could try some burst-mode shots with it there.
