It's Swirly Soviet Saturday! This lens isn't nearly as consistent as, say, an FA77, but when it comes together, there are no substitutes. Helios 40.

That shot with the J-9 is very nice. It's also why I'll eventually bleed off money for one of those. Which version do you have?

Thank you! If I recall correctly I paid around £85 for it - it's a black M42 variant but I'm afraid I'm not sure of specifics off the top of my head.
Pair it with an extension tube and you can force some exquisite bokeh. I actually used it with a generic metal lens hood for my brother and sister-in-law's paternity/maternity photos. Performed very admirably.
