Thanks, Billy! It's the walk I take every morning with my dogs. A rare overnight rain shower set the mood and motivated me to take the camera that morning. With such a tiny lens, it's not much of a burden.

Imagine shooting that with cinestill, would be intense.

Interesting, I hadn't heard of that! Seems to be a lot of damp nighttime photography done with Cinestill.

From Wikipedia:
QuoteQuote:
Cinestill Film converts the Kodak motion picture cinema film by removing the Remjet backing, a separate Anti-halation backing used to protect the film in motion picture cameras. Due to the removal of this anti-halation backing, Cinestill Film exhibits a glowing effect on the image in areas with strong highlights.
That's exactly why I took the Jupiter 8. The coating was never great to begin with, and 60 years of wear certainly haven't improved the contrast. It's my "glow" lens, great for moody night shots.

Despite having the 85mm FL covered, I keep watching for an early Jupiter-9. A fool and his money, I suppose...

Burst mode! You don't see all the pictures I delete.

I don't even try to follow runners with a manual lens. I keep the lens set to a distance that would frame the dog well, depending on their size, and wait for them pass through my focal plane at some point.

Question for the collective (pardon the pun...)

Recommended FSU 28mm and 135? I'm looking at the Jupiter 21 200mm, but from what I read it's roughly like trying to shoot with an artillery shell, so I'm thinking...smaller.

I can only say that one of my favorite lenses is the CZJ Sonnar 135mm f/3.5. Compact, light, very sharp, excellent colors. Not actually FSU, but close enough (East German). Still affordable and plentiful.

I don't have much experience with vintage wide angles or anything longer than 135mm.

Back with the Jupiter 8 this morning, the little lens that keeps on giving.

It's the puppy Poppy and her buddy Bijou.

Jack the rough collie.
