For those asking about the older 28mm f3.5 hood, here is a shot (not taken with a takumar! ). 58mm filter thread size from an early version of the lens, with the pressure screw on the side.

Spotmatic F w/ SMC Takumar 55/1.8 @ 5.6 1/500th, on Kodak Portra 400NC. (Note: next time I got out shooting a model in daylight conditions, I will think twice about using 400ISO film. Was constantly in the 250-500 shutter speed range, even at higher apertures like F8. I'll try the Portra 100 next time) Model is my wife.

Don't worry; she's pretty enough that you couldn't mess it up even if you tried. (But keep an ND filter handy for situations like this).

Steve, Thank you for the pictures, I see it is the same style as the one for the 35mm/f2 but the filter size is a huge 70mm!!

Here is two pictures.

@ Mike Cash: Thanks for your reply, but mine doesn't have the spring loaded things you are describing. I do have a couple of lens caps that have these.

@Steinback: Thanks also for your reply. You are correct, and now it works. I was really curious about the 2 white dots, and once I lined them up and twisted just a bit, I saw the little "grabbers"(?) extend out just a bit, and this is what holds it to the lens.

Thanks to both of you.

With all the talk about the DA* 55mm f1.4 lately, I thought I'd join the fray with my SMC 55mm f1.8 Takumar. The first is a garage I've been meaning to photograph for a while but always found something in the way. The second was something's meal (I tried to hide the large wound where in fact its heart is missing).

My first attempt at shooting the stars. Takumar 28mm. 30 second exposure. If you look closely, you can see Orion looking down on me.

I know that the camera will accept Takumars but my question is the camera is basically in constant AV mode will it meter correctly with taks and set the correct shutter speed ?

My first shots with Curbster54's Super-Multi-Coated Talumar 3.5/28. Still too cold and wintry here for much more!
