Have you added the O-ME53 yet? Makes far more difference than you might think.

I've become so used to the O-ME53 that I was really shocked when I took it off to clean recently and looked through the viewfinder without it. It suddenly felt like looking through a tiny little rectangular peephole in the distance.

Thanks Tim. I've been through a phase of trying out modern AF lenses over the past few months, but now I've learnt the error of my ways and returned to the true Takumar faith. Here's another one with the 20mm:

The only Takumar I have left is the SMC Takumar 55/1.8 that I used a few pages ago just for kicks. It's going with us to Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park (AB/SK bodger). I think I might have some fun with it there, along with the rest of my kit.

I've had one for several years, but it's found a permanent home on my wife's K100D (which desperately needs it). Time to get another, I guess.

I have a feeling my Auto-Takumar (single coated) would be better for black and white, but I don't have a filter that fits it

Just picked up this nice collection of M42 SMC Takumars.

Nice find! I only have 1 Takumar and it’s the 85/1.8, condition is like yours, came with hood and case and looks barely used. I adapt mine to an a6500

A couple of weeks ago I decided that my 20mm needed a really deep clean throughout and a general tighten up, which is hardly surprising since I take 90% of my photos with it in all kinds of conditions. Of all my Taks it's the one that needs the most maintenance to get the best out of it, but I think it's worth it.

Here's a little fella that marched right up to me one evening last week, which means that thoughtless tourists have been feeding him treats and disrupting his natural lifestyle. I guess it doesn't occur to them that in a few months he's going to have to stop relying on high calorie snacks from idiotic two-legs and learn how to get through a tough winter on his own.
