Just looked at it closer, and dang if it isn't an 8- element, according to the IR index mark. It deserves better.

Okay. I couldn't help myself. A little dust-blowing and gentle cleaning, and she looked pretty...well, not good but less forlorn. The front and rear elements have suffered some indignities, but the coating looks otherwise good, there's no fungus and no visible separation. These images were shot in adverse conditions: The orchid is sitting under and in front of a fluorescent desk lamp, the angel is only lit by the overhead kitchen fluorescents.

The orchid is OOC .jpg, adjusted for exposure and shadows. The angel is from .ORF (RAW), adjusted for WB and shadows. Both were resized, neither were cropped. Hard to believe for a lens which probably hasn't seen a camera in 25 years, and is probably 55-56 years old.

It's the sharpest, by a huge margin -- the amount of fine detail it resolves is just crazy. Also it's completely uncoated and causes no perceptible shift away from real-world colours as far as I can see. Of course it's an absolute pig to use with its primitive 1940s controls, which is why I use my Super Takumar 55mm/2.0 for most day-to-day photography instead.

I bet that the M37 Takumar 50mm/3.5 would beat it though.
Thanks for clarifying! That's interesting to hear.

Beautiful, beautiful shots with the SMC Tak 28mm. It is easy to see why I like that lens too.
Thanks, Ray! Appreciated.

Next to the good optical results, the Takumars are still among the finest lenses for handling as well.
Using these is always an enjoyable experience.

Another North Carolina IPA, Greybeard, made by Pisgah Brewing Company of Black Mountain. I intend to keep trying the local beer until I have tried them all. Let's see, North Carolina has over 300 independent craft breweries. If each makes five varieties, that's 1500... I'm not worried about running out. Taken with the often-overlooked Super Takumar 35mm f/3.5 on a Fujifilm X-T20 body.

New to the wonder world of Takumar's Loving it

Shot from my Super Tak 200mm f4 I just got today. Pretty nice lens. Just a Test shot of an interesting looking incense burner in my room. I didn't manage to muster up the energy after work to go outside and take her for a spin. More to come from this and others for sure
