Howdy

Hola!

I've been taking some interest in the discussions about Flickr since that's where I'm posting these days. But I only have about fifty pictures left until I reach my free limit. I'm not going to buy a Pro subscription. As a retiree I have to be careful of expenditures. I'd pay the yearly subscription to Pentaxforums if I could do so without using PayPal. Speaking of which I discovered yesterday that I can now buy from eBay without using PayPal. I couldn't before whether because of a problem with my old PayPal account or for some other reason I don't know. I wanted to try and service my $15 Pentacon 50mm f1.8 lens with an aperture problem and couldn't manage to reassemble the aperture properly. The blades look like they're made of some thin plastic. But the lens itself is exceptional IMO focusing down to 13 inches and sharing some of the same optical qualities as some of the best East German glass in terms of color, sharpness and bokeh and so I wanted to replace it which I was able to do quite cheaply. I haven't been on eBay for a few years now, and it seems prices for m42 lenses have gone up significantly. Is that the case?

And Sandy, when I saw your 85mm Tak I had to go look for mine because I thought the numbers were really close. It loos like yours begins 5 six 9 5 though the second digit is hard to make out.. Mine is 5 eight 9 5.

That is lens porn. Just gorgeous. And to think that these have been manufactured decades ago. A great testimony to build quality then. Congratulations

Hello People.

I'm a Takumar fan (well among other lenses), and I wonder how I did not post here at all, since the many years I registered this forum.

Congratulation for the nice photographs.
I hope to participate soon (after resolving my backlog).

Currently I'm struggling on disassembly and cleaning of a s-m-c Takumar 135mm f/3.5 that had fungus and slow diaphragm.
Takumars are nice, but their construction are a bit complicated. I would rather tinker on Carl Zeiss Jena lenses than Takumar...

Not out of the woods yet.
parts everywhere on the desk...
Aaargh.

Cheers.

Finally got a Nikon 4000 ED scanner, time to digitize some of the B&Ws I did

Here's one shot I scanned tonight. Spotmatic SP with the Takumar 35mm f2.3, shot with tri-x 400.

Nice. That is quite contrasty.

On framing, I think it would have been nice to see the front guardrail join the left side one.

I was not interested in the Auto-Takumar 35mm f/2.3 until a recent, and unsuccessful tentative on local ebay. It have become quite expensive, since years now.
Is it worth it ?

An ugly, dark, wet typical January day and some gas well piping. Shot with a Takumar (pre-set) 105/2.8 @ f/2.8 on K5.
