have removed the top of my yashicaflex hood (thinks its only 4 screws) and cleaned the ground glass and mirror....it got a touch brighter to help with focusing.....always used the magnifying glass that flips up.....got a few things decently but not what folks would call "tack sharp"
yeh thats the allure of the feds having that body style of those more prestigious bodies........not sure if they have the same type of mount
I have a Welta Reflekta II TLR, which can be disassembled in a similar manner. However, the mirror is surface silver - so any scrubbing will just rub it off, and it has tarnished over the years. Fortuitously, a company sells a replacement mirror nowadays that's a perfect match, and it's not even expensive, I should get one some time.
I developed the first roll of film I put through it yesterday evening
sadly it has no Takumar lenses, so I can't post it here. Spotted at least three images I'm happy with, and will do prints the following days.
And yes, the Feds use the same M39 mount and flange distance as Leicas, people tend to buy them to get a cheap but good Industar-61 lens for their original Leica as well.
And aside from the shutter mechanism not feeling perfect, the craftsmanship of the Fed really is not too bad either
feels very solid and well-built to me. So I like to think it's not just the looks.

Couple of shots with the super takumar 28/3.5. Precise is indeed the right word for these lenses. And it has great haptics.
I'm very impressed that you got such a sharp image of her with a manual focus lens, while riding a bike!
Do you have a history in acrobatics perhaps?
