My 85 f1.9 is without doubt my go to lens for everything its seems. We went to the sea side yesterday

and then onto a place somewhat more sinister and wet and windy...

I actually agree, I've owned both those lenses and they both are better than the 135 - the 85 is legendary, but the 105 is IMO the best telephoto takumar.

I'm just sticking up for the little guy

This kid saw mine and immediately started bawling for his mother to buy him one.

Thanks for the comments Blue
I think the 85 is a bit magic... the detail on some of those shots is awesome when seen at original size....

phuu..Blue that makes me blush
..I got three 105mm Takumars, the preset which simply says 'Takumar', the Super Takumar and the S-M-C Takumar. Kind of an overkill, but first I could not resist the Super Takumar as it was with original caps, hood and case even though it had some fungus and actually was too expensive ( later got it cleaned ), again could not resist when I got hold of a near mint S-M-C for a cheaper price, and once again when I ran across the preset for very little.

I am afraid I have not used any of them to it's potential yet, but here some samples:

preset Takumar 105/2.8:

Super Takumar 105mm f2.8:

S-M-C Takumar 105mm f2.8:

if anybody bothers to check out their respective sets at my flickr site she/he will find that the preset has become my most used of the three, reasons being I like using presets and because it is so small, images are less contrasty but that can be dealt with in PP if so desired.

My fingers need a break from typing "105/2.8" so this week I took it out of my bag and put the 85/1.9 back in.

Maybe some dinosaurs will fix this... what am I saying? Dinosaurs can fix ANYTHING.

Royal Tyrell Museum of Paleontology, Drumheller, Alberta. Super-Takumar 1.4/50.

These are with K10D, ISO 800-1600. No PP, only WB correction and exposure compensation.

For reasons not completely understood to me, the normally grainy ISO 1600 looks fine when I use the Super-Takumar 1.4/50 instead of the FA 1.4/50.

Is it the yellowing of the glass? The smooth background cancels out OOF grain? Any takers? Takumar fairies sprinkling low-ISO pixie dust?

I'd say it's partly everything. I noticed that pics from the taks just looks nicer than FA in general... for whatever reason
