It has been a long time since I have posted (work has been miserable) but I thought I would post a recent rescue. I have been having a great time looking over the amazing photos I have missed.

85mm 1.8 auto takumar

I am blessed to have found this lens for such a price. I am going to try to put down my tlr's and get back to my k100d

Removing the nameplate and disassembling the front group proved to be extremeley easy. was able to clean out some pesky metal shavings that got stuck to the front element on the inside. Turned my $5 bargain bin find into a stellar lens. Can't really show it off with this picture, but it's the only thing around to take a picture of.

This is one of my colleagues, geared up to tackle a faked crime scene clean-up. It was for a feature she was writing. She needed a photographer and I obliged. What followed was a bathroom splattered with five litres of pigs' blood and various pig bits. Those pics aren't here (because they weren't taken with a tak), but you can see one of them on my Flickr here.

Auto-Takumar 55/2

Taken last night during rehearsal for today's recital (which I have to dash off to shoot in a few minutes).

Light was from a National PE-3057 and a Pentax AF200T, a pair of low-tech wonders from the 1980s, each of which set me back ten whole dollars.

The Auto-Takumar 55/2 is a 50 year old kit lens, which I got as a freebie on a refurbished S2 body I bought for about $25.
