We never get tired of photos taken by a "hack". Some of us aspire to be a "hack".

See? It is shots like that which make me in all seriousness question what the last 50 years of fervent activity in furthering camera technology has been been in search of.

There are at least 4 of us on the forum with the original K. I've had mine for about 6 months, and I was surprised at how modern a 50 year old camera is. I doubt our digitals will be in the same type of shape in 50 years. I think the cost of making the K was the problem. Like the others from that era, they were all hand crafted. Even looking at the glass...why could they make such wonderful fast glass back then? Why did lenses like the FAs have to get so big and slow as time went on? At least with the FA ltd they went back to being small works of art.

Thanks Mike. I just love that lens. The body is really nice too but there is something a little extra special about that particular lens. As the single-coated version of the later 55mm f/1.8 I think it speaks volumes about every version of the lens to and including the final incarnation in the FA 50 f/1.7.

IMHO the combination of the "Zebra" and the 1958 "K" body is perhaps the most recognizable and prettiest cameras that Pentax has EVER made.

woof!
