Gooshin that certainly looks like the m42 f2 35mm that I had - very large front element- sold it with my first spottie and have regretted it ever since.

I've had a few chances to buy this lens online but never followed through. I love 35mm on my K10D and f/2 would make it a very versatile lens.

I just got my M42/K adpter this evening. It was dark out when I finally had time to play with the camera, so I started bothering the pets...

Here's my 13yr old sheltie looking sweet, enjoying a rawhide:

...and here he is telling me to get the hell out of his face with the camera:

Both pics are from a k200d equiped with an SMC Tak 120mm f2.8 (despite what the EXIF data says)

Gooshin the rear element is quite small and protrudes which is why the lens is lying on its side for the photo. It is a lens that looks wider in diameter than it is long in length - quite a heavy piece of kit. Also that rear lens cap looks like a standard M42 Takumar lens cap. Hope that is what you were asking for.

In all fairness to Morgan (my dog), he was actually coughing due to a piece of wayward rawhide. It sure looks vicious when captured in a photo though.

Some Queen Anne's Lace, gone to seed. It might bite if you aren't careful. #2 extension tube and SMC Takumar 55mm.

I don't know what happened to it. That site was a great resource. I sure hope it's not gone for good.
Here is the site. If any of you have information that is missing in their database, please join and submit your data.

M42 is a site dedicated to M42 adaptator lenses. You will find here tests, from argentic to numeric cameras and oldest to newest M42 lenses. Members described their work and the used lens. Oldies, but goldies!

Cheers,
Bob Rapp

Unfortunately, Nigel's m-fortytwo site is no longer available. It listed all the lenses and serial numbers as supplied by users.

Google still show it at:

Life is Interesting

that site is a spec of dust compared to Nigel's m-fortytwo for "takumar" specific material, Nigels site was esp helpful at difirentiating all the different model numbers and what not.

Fortunately there are visionaries like Brewster Kahle in the world -- he's the fellow who started up archive.org. For Takumars and the m-fortytwo.info site, take a look here: View all Takumar lens types

Of course the database (whatever form it was in) isn't generating that page, but it wouldn't be too much of a task to parse the tables into a proper relational form. If no one can get in touch with the original site's author, I'll see what I can do
