Received my first Takumar today. Flabbergasted. Don't have my adapter yet, so I haven't used it, but my first reaction to this lens was: "let's go take pictures." Usually I want to take some test shots to compare the new kid with my other lenses. I'm not sure what it is: the lens hood and cap held on by friction? the felt in the cap to cause said friction? the all metal build? the slightly higher resistance to focus adjustments? the near-360 degree focus throw? I dunno. All of it, I suppose.

Super-Takumar 1:3.5/135. My precious.

*cough* This doesn't get addictive, does it?

I think they're held on by faith and force of habit.

They're so lousy you'll regret buying the one you have.

Pentax AF280T
Flash Waves

Oh....and for those who insist on saying that a tripod is an absolute necessity for macro...this was handheld with 65mm of extension on the bellows (almost but not quite 1:1)

Post-processing was extremely minimal and this is almost exactly the way it looked straight out of the camera.

My first shots with my first Super Takumar.
Super Takumar 135mm 2.5. I beleive that this is one of a few 135 2.5's made. This one without SMC coating (as some lens rims state "Super - Multi - Coated Takumar")

Is the purplely shadows a product of the lact of SMC?

That's good to know. My wife told me not to get carried away on ebay. Last Friday, I won a Super Takumar 1:1.8/55 for $14.50 and a SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.8 for $15.50. Guess I can tell her that even if it is addictive, it ain't expensive.

I get a fair amount of purple around bright highlights with my Super Tak 135mm f/2.5 also.

I don't think it's the coating -- other old lenses have much less purple fringing. I think it's just a fact of life with that particular optical design.

You know, he really doesn't care what he plays with does he? Looks like he just enjoys "exploring". I really, really miss my grandson when I look at these photos. He was 2 on 6 Oct.

Nice sentiments, thank you, yes, he loves just picking up a stick and 'singing'
as he whacks it around.

(Tak 150 f/4)

We have an intercom in his crib area, and we can hear him
'talking' to all his stuffed animals before he drifts off to sleep. In the morning,
they're all over the crib or the floor - he has some sort of party every night in there

Everything stops when a bird or plane flies over, or a big noisy truck drives
past - he loves trucks and big buses, and will spend up to a minute looking
up in a tree for a bird he heard. (that's why I have so many shots of him looking
up - one of the rare moments when he's sitting still is when he's looking
for a bird.)

(Tak 150 f/4):

He also for some reason loves to sing to trees and bite the bark (he is
still teething):

(Tak 105 2.8)

He likes to get down real close to see ants and small insects:

(Tak 150 f/4)

You should go see your grandson & take some shots!
