Thanks for all the nice comments, everyone. In all truth, the photos straight from the camera looked pretty awful and I was surprised post-processing was able to salvage them. I appreciate the comment about skill, but there was no particular skill involved in those shots. Just a simple matter of shooting a flash through an umbrella.

You guys are sweet. I think I'd better post a stinker before I start believing the hype.

That is a lot like many of my east Asia pictures. But it tells a lot about Japan - they even wash their trucks, rather than allow them to accumulate dirt like in most other places. I take pictures when I travel because they help me see what is in front of me, just like this one.

nice and sharp repaap, i'll have to watch for one of these (my m 28 3.5 is nice and sharp but i like the tak build better)

Great portraits mike. that lens has been on my list for a long while (unfortunately i have yet to find one in my price range)

Thanks Eddie, I have the first model. I suppose later versions are more sharp, but this one can be sharp enough. Needs to be stopped allthe way f11 to gain nice sharpness for infinity shots. But at close range it it quite nice still and close targets. Colors are great too! About build, tak's are just superb.

thanks, i have a couple of taks so i know the build (50 1.4 and 55 1.8) the m 28 3.5 gets nice and sharp starting at 5.6 but shines at 8-11. I use this length mostly in good light so speed isn't essential (i wouldn't mind an f2.0 at 24/28 though for twilight street shooting.

Eddie, I recently used the ST 28/3.5 (58mm filter version) a lot in Seoul at night in MyeongDong and NamDaeMun markets. I liked the results. Also noticed the Koreans changed to low energy lamps and used so many of them that they would use the same power as the Taiwanese used with regular lamps in a night market (mid 80s) so the light felt like near daylight with different shadows and dark places. I was using it mostly at 3.5 or sometimes 5.6. And it was lovely to use.

I've tried the m28 3.5 at night and it is very situation dependent, but mostly for Toronto streets it just isn't fast enough (if I had the k5 it would be though)
I have a K7 though so the lens may be the cheaper option for speed in this case (that and i don't have the dosh for a k5 anyway currently), As it sits the next upgrade on a body will hopefully be a FF Pentax (I have no desire for canon where i could adapt some lenses, just don't like the ergonomics)

Try the Vivitar/Kiron 24 and 28 mm F2.0 lenses. Yes and I am sorry, I know they are not tak's

Strange cracks on bokeh?

Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum.. I own a S-M-C Takumar 50mm f/1.4 and i really love it! However, I notice some strange cracks on my bokeh.. It only appears when blurring on lights and forms disc-shaped lights.. My explanation may be a little confusing so I am posting sample photos..

I also notice that the cracks appear to be in the same pattern in every disc-shaped light.. Could this be fungus? a scratch on the glass? or just a dust? Anyone here having the same problem? I hope to hear from you guys.. Thanks in advance!

It could be that the iris is not fully opening.
