Ha! Yes. In honor of Ira's return, I do believe my S-M-C 105 is going on the camera this week for the first time in a while.

I'll take my 105 out today also but the 55 will be on the camera. Not sure what the third lens will be though. Maybe an all tak day but then 35 is my widest.

ooo... pretty! I've got some sunset shots I took last night. Still need to PP them off the Takkie 35.

I love that you can see all the detail from the car lights and reflection on the road. Is that straight out of the camera or PP'd? Raw or jpg?

Welcome back, Ira. Do you still have your taks? I seem to recall you looking for a replacement 50/1.4.

I hope things will start looking up for you soon!

Wolfiegirl,

Thanks! It was a pretty drive toward the west that evening.

I did some post-processing: Adjusted exposure a little bit, adjusted levels, adjusted white balance, and some noise reduction - all in Pentax Digital Camera Utility 4.3.

Show us your sunset shots.

Pentax Digital Camera Utility - that's the program on the disk that comes with the camera right? I reinstalled that the other night and remembered why I uninstalled it last time. I can't figure out how to use it!

Thank you for your kind words. Even those who were only kind after you followed their convoluted paths. (HAH!!!)

Sam--yeah. I still got all my old Taks, and I don't care if he gets pissed about this or not, but...

Roger (Arjay Bee) sent me a replacement S-Tak 50 1.4...all the way to my Florida from his Queensland Australia...for absolutely freaking free. He did this like the day after I posted my miserable message.

Now, please don't think that he'll send YOU any free lenses, and please don't think that he wanted me to acknowledge this at all. But the how the hell could I not?

It was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me...it lifted my spirits when I most needed it...and it confirmed why I love Australia.

Here is the other evening's sunset. I probably spent more time just standing out there appreciating it than taking photos. A crime, I know. But it was a choice - either spend the twenty mins to dusk snapping away for the "best shot" or simply stand and appreciate. The colours later went to a deep pink and indigo. Soooo pretty!

There's nothing wrong with standing there enjoying it. I do it myself sometimes. Not everything has to be photographed.

It may be true that...."when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail"....but that doesn't mean that just because we're toting cameras we have to think everything looks like a picture.

Wolfiegirl,

Now THAT is why dusk is called the golden hour. Nice pictures, nice view. I understand why you wanted to just sit and watch the show.

You are correct - it is THAT Pentax Digital Camera Utility that you find so hard to use! I rarely use it, but that picture needed a little more processing than I could do with my normal workflow - using Faststone Image Viewer. I have found that changing exposure and white balance works really well with PDCU, and the noise reduction is fairly good.

That Tak 35/3.5 is a VERY sharp lens.

Here is another shot a few miles down the road from my previous shot:

I'm glad to hear you still have some lenses and that there are a handful of good people still out there.

Yet another sunset

This is one of the very few times I have put the sun in the frame. This is straight out of camera - I suppose that follows from my Kodachrome days - get it right in camera, and also my desire to represent what I actually saw. I liked the flare in the lower right, but there is an optics induced artefact I do not like. See if anyone can pick it.
STak 55/2 on k100DS. At Granite Island, just off Victor Harbor, south of Adelaide.

K20D + Super Takumar 35/3.5 @ ISO1600

I love this lens, sharp wide open and even sharper one stop down, no need to go further. Out of Camera JPEG tweaked using Faststone...
