I have my takumar 55mm/1.8. Looks like it had gone to some battle. I call it "battle damaged takumar".

but it sure gives me nice pictures.

I have a Takumar 85mm F1.8 but no lens hood. Now I´ve found one lens hood for Takumar 135 / 200mm and it has the right filter thread (58mm) but is that hood possible to use with my 85mm and K-5? My English is to bad to explain what I mean but I'll try. What I wonder is if the hood is so long that it I will see it in the photos?
I have the hood for my 85/1.9 but use the 135/200 hood because the reduced sensor size is still within the FOV for the longer hood and the older tak's are a little prone to flare. In fact I step down all my hoods in a similar way for that reason. There is a spreadsheet that I uploaded called hoodcalc that calculates the maximum hood length if you know the sensor size, hood diameter and front element diameter(not filter thread but the actual element). The length it returns is the distance from the front element to the edge of the hood, so if the front element is recessed you need to obviously subtract that distance

Because the EV comp only goes to +2, and I need a little more than that in general shooting. As soon as there's a lot of white in the frame I'd need more still and would be forced to use M mode. Much better to avoid the problem if possible.
I am surprised, I have never needed that much with my tak's but any way, I do agree, that of you have also to deal with needing ev comp for back lighting or highly I white biased shots, you are left at the end of the adjustment.

Ditto, my SMC Tak 85mm didn't come with a hood either, and I've been using the hood from my Tak 200mm. It works great.

Exactly. I'd be unable to use the EV comp for it's intended purpose. My camera's a K200D, which is well known as a chronic under-exposer (usually around a half stop), which doesn't help.

I've been offered to buy a Takumar 35mm F2.3 but I've never heard of this lens before. Does anyone here have it and if so is it any good? The price asked is about $80.

The 35mm f/2.3 is the first fast Pentax 35mm lens. The design is quite a bit different than the later 35mm f/2. If the lens is in good shape $80 is a good price, I would expect a clean version to sell for closer to $120.
