I did not use a Quartz-Takumar but an even more rare 85mm Ultra-Achromatic Takumar for the three shots below. I like my shots not shaken and not stirred.
Really amazing captures Peter, well done!

That is a bit funny almost an identical shot but for me it was a bit cloudier.
Thanks for the compliment!

SMC Takumar 85/1.8

Here are a couple more with the 85mm I tried using Photomatix and tone mapping these photos.

Contrast?

Great landscape photos. My objection to many HDR photos is that they appear too flat and have insufficient contrast; your photos IMO are diminished somewhat because of inadequate contrast.

Hi Bruce - I find your comment interesting. If I play around with the contrast too much I find the photos started to look off to my tastes. Using the HDR software I find that the end result is just closer to what I actually saw with my eyes that day. For me the amalgamation of the photos brings out the depth of colour in the clouds, the highlights in the building and even the colours in the grass and the final result is a truer representation than you can get with a single shot. As far as contrast, I don't know, I'll need to ponder that some more. What I have done is included the three exposures which I used. I really think the tone map is the best. Robert

I would agree

I just played around with the histogram for a few seconds here and applied a mild S Curve to the histogram using PSP X4

The SMC 85/1.8 is an amzing lens. So sharp and produces great colours. I have both Super Takumar 85/1.9 and SMC Takumar 85/1.8 is by far my favorite one, especially when used on a FF camera.
