Yep, there's barrel distortion and soft edges on film even stopped right down, but that Takumar 20mm can do things with colour and light that'll make me forgive it anything. It's a wondrous lens for the things I really care about.
35mm was always my favourite focal length on film -- in fact for ten years in the 90s my only camera was an Olympus XA with its fixed 35mm/2.8. So I’ve been looking for the perfect 24mm as an equivalent ever since I got my first DSLR two years ago. Here’s hoping the SMC Takumar 24mm/3.5 will finally end the quest.
Thanks to Jean Poitiers and Andrew_Oid for the kind comments. To Andrew: the granite crosses on Dartmoor were erected during the medieval period as waymarkers along the routes between various monastries. My own interest in them is really just for the satisfaction of navigating my way to ones I’ve never seen before (using a good old map and compass without any GPS cheating). I’ve now realised that photographing them all is a lifetime’s project, but I’m enjoying the journey.
