I've been reprocessing some older images in LR 5.3. Super Takumar 300 f/4 on a 1D Mk II N.

Thanks, guys, for your comments.

Here's some more, showing Mr Fox playing with his dinner. I managed to sneak them by the johnyates quality control dep't by showing them smaller. They're crops from farther away.
Nice job of capturing the action with the manual focus lens.

My first digital shot after three months of using film exclusively, with the Super Takumar 20mm on my GX-10.

My conclusion is that I prefer the handling of a film camera any day. Going back to the simple mechanical controls and match needle metering on my beloved 34 year old K1000 has been an utter joy. If only there was a DSLR that was so easy to use. And in many ways I prefer the end results I've been getting with film too.

But I'm just not sure I prefer film enough to justify the cost per shot and the difficulty of getting really good scans. So it looks like it's back to digital for now, although I reserve the right to take my K1000 out for a walk anytime.

Okay so I bought a 17mm Takumar for $200 and I just got it in the mail..it has a few light scratches on the front of the lens..see the attached image...should I return it to the seller or should I keep it? Would these scratches affect the images? I can't test it with my DSLR because I dont have it at the moment..any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

Must likely it won't. If it was the rears lens then yes.

Okay great, thanks for the feedback, i'll keep the lens seeing as they normally sell for $350+ Because other than this tiny scratch, everything with it is perfect, filters rotate easily and click in place, no scrathes on the body, basically brand new..maybe it was bumped somewhere when they were taking pictures of it

LensRentals.com - Front Element Scratches

This lens is cracked like hell and still works. It's only when it's pointed at the sun/light does it matters.

Here is another example in the last two pictures.

How was the lens described in the listing? Did the seller point out the scratches? If not, you could probably negotiate a partial refund.

It said a couple light scratches on the front element but they werent visible in the pictures of the lens. But anyway, i'm keeping this gem for landscape shots since its not very fish-eye-y in a crop sensor

And also the scratches arent that big/deep..they just bug me a little bit when i look at it haha

This is by the old Auto-Takumar 55/1.8 - the zebra one. I just pressed 'auto adjust' on Windows live photo gallery and this is what it came up with.

So..just got another lens in the mail but I think this one has fungus or hazing towards the rear element..sorry the picture isnt that good its taken with my iphone 5...anyway, when i really look through it, it looks like a white webby kinda thing, but only on the surface of the element..i cant use it to check image quality because i dont have my dslr..so..is it fungus or hazing? And should I send it to Eric to get it CLA'd?

I would send it back and look/wait for a better copy to come along ... depends on how much you have in the lens if it's worth the additional cost of Eric's services plus postage/hassle, etc. ... J

Looks like bad fungus to me. Beware, as cleaning it up may not completely solve the problem if the fungus has etched the glass or coatings. I would send it back.
