I have the 7 element Takumar 50/1.4. I really love the pictures I've taken with it. The color it gives is amazing, and the bokeh is nice. I do not have an 8-element to compare it with. Just sayin' I like my 7 so far. The lens does have quite a lot of yellowing to it. I will get it under tom UV at some point to correct that. My husband suggested I rent a tanning bed for an hour and take a book with me, heh.

Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 55 1.8

Hinman,
I would be interested in your thoughts on the Super-Takumar 50 1.4 8-element. I have a spare copy I could send your way to try out if you are interested.

Many thanks. It was great early morning light. And thanks everyone else for your likes for the bee.

Here's another by the Macro Takumar 50/4, a lens I highly recommend for its super sharpness, colourfulness and fun. But I've just tried a head-to-head with the Takumar 50/1.4 at f8 and have to say the fast fifty rendered better. But it doesn't do close ups like this!
That is nothing short of phenomenal! Have you tried selling it as a stock image?

Thank you so much for the generous offer. The LBA thinking in me always lures me to try my luck to buy a good copy. I actually like my Super Takumar 55mm f/1.8 very much. I think the Super/SMC Takumar 55mm f/1.8 is under-rated takumar and a outstanding value.

Thanks again,

A bit of comic relief:
Yesterday was one of the only non-rainy/non-cloudy days this spring--clear blue sky and warm temperatures. I borrowed a dog and took the K20D and the Super-Tak 50 1.4 (7 elements) for a hike on the prairie. Got this @ f4 or thereabouts.

I think the 50mm 1.4 is a pretty special lens, no matter how many elements.

That looks typical of my experience with that lens. I like it, and tend to prefer it over the 50/1.4 (7 element).

I've never sold one either. I bet if you start thread asking about it, though, people will be able to give you some tips. That image needs to be on posters and calendars.

A great shot and I wish I have a dog to borrow for pictures. It is a charming and funny shot. And I am with you all the Takumar are special to its owners. To me, the Takumar offer the best in size, lightweight, beautiful build quality, and the best in manual focusing, and pleasing bokeh.

I have a casual walk yesterday morning with my Takumar 50mm f/4.0 macro.

All are taken with Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 50mm f/4.0 macro and Sony nex 5n. Hope you allow me to post pictures of non-Pentax. I still own Pentax K-5 but I have used my smaller camera more often.

Cheers,
Hin
