Super Takumar 85/1.9 (really beat up copy with perfect glass), shot on Pentax K-7
Lovely tones! Believe it or not, we have the same "winter light" down here in TX, which makes it one of my favorite times of year for shooting.

Nice shot J, and nice acquisition! That's a good looking lens. I'll be watching to seeing how it performs.

I took Charlotte to her music class this morning and then rushed over to the botanical garden for a few test snaps ...

Done in great haste, but looks quite promising ... first at near MFD and near wide open. Salut, J

I have AutoTakumar 55/2.2.
A couple of examples on the minimum distance. Work in the corners of the lens. In the center
Wide open. 5DmkII
I like this small piece of glass and metal

The third one seems as though you fairly much got your idea to work. I think if that is the whole frame I would crop it by bringing in the bottom right corner to remove the toes and the wrists of the boy, otherwise increase the frame to include his hands. The other two convey what you were trying to do but you seem to suffer the same challenge I do - actually hitting focus on the right point. I think your reflection in the bauble should have been the focus plane, not the fastener. And in the first the challenge was the focus subject seems underexposed. Don't worry, I do all these things myself far too often. What was going on in the first?

I admire those who seem to be able get everything to work in one exposure: focus, exposure, framing, lighting and the right things actually showing.

SMC Takumar 85/1.8 is a wonderful lens. But requires care when focusing IMHO
